I heard on the Ticket that they confirmed that Line is going to have surgery and he will be out for the rest of the season.

SMU RB Zach Line will not play in Sat. showdown at Houston or for the rest of year. He suffered a torn tendon vs. Navy and needs surgery.
We're staring a losing season in the face now. Just lost our top offensive threat and took an effective blocker away from a QB with zero mobility.

http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com ... eason.htmlSMU running back Zach Line will miss Saturday's game at BCS No. 11 Houston and the rest of the season because of a torn tendon in his toe that requires surgery, according to a source close to the program.
Line is the leading rusher in Conference USA, averaging 122 yards per game.
Line suffered the injury in last week's loss to Navy, though he received treatment and reentered the game. Line has been able to overcome hamstring and shoulder injuries all season.
SMU will use a mix of running backs in Line's place, with freshman Jared Williams getting most of the carries.

Anyone else remember some years back when Duffy Daugherty's program at Michigan State collapsed and he cried and groaned and poor mouthed so much that Sports Illustrated reminded that Winston Churchill had presided over the dissolution of the British Empire with fewer complaints?
I hope that Line recovers and rehabs from the surgery that seems to be coming. I also hope that whoever takes his place plays well and also the rest of the SMU team.
Go Ponies.

Line should have never have re-entered the Navy game. WTF was June thinking? I rather have Williams getting some snaps against Navy than Houston

He was probably thinking that he wanted to win the game and Line was his best chance to get that done. He probably also didn't use his mini-MRI machine to determine the extent of the injury while on the sideline, so he didn't know how bad it was.

This is horrible news. Hopefully some other players step up.

I wish Line was playing and I don't want to jinx Williams but I expect him to have a great game Saturday. I'm friends with a coach who knows Williams well. I would guess that there are other things more serious to worry about than Williams cause he's gonna do fine. (fingers crossed).

My point is you should be extremely careful with your players, ESPECIALLY your best player. When Line came out the first time even the commentators pointed out that it was a case of turf toe. Why didn't June send in Williams at this point? It was a huge risk to send Line back out there and honestly June should've known better.

Watching the VT-UNC game and the ticker at the bottom said Line is out for the season. "CRAP!"
