There are worse people to apprentice under.
The Gallon situation was unfortunate and horribly timed post-Sampson.

Check out my other thread on Amaker. It tells you all you need to know. He had one winning season in the conference at Seaton Hall and one at Michigan. He does no radio or T.V. shows. His program at Harvard was investigated by the league. He had a non-conference schedule packed with the Savanah States of the world to pad his record, and went to one Collegeinsiderstournament to pad his record even more. Way to soft for this job.
So if he is not the guy, why did Harvard bent over backwards to keep him?

GO PONIES!!!
He would want his buddy Bobby Knight.
Cuban could be a great asset to SMU. Not just for sports but also for community promotion etc. JMHO.

Your response makes no sense. According to who that Harvard bent over backwards? If that is the case, it is well documented and an example is included in this thread.
If Doh can not go on for whatever reason, who do you go and get TB?
Re: Who is your realistic "dream" hire for SMU basketball
Well everyone...I tried. I tried to have a rational discussion with TB and ask a direct question. And what do I get...Rambling and dodging of a direct question.
Here is the article (albeit from the Harvard newspaper) sighting the way Harvard treated Amaker:

Last time...Who would you bring in if Coach Doh was unavailable?

Bruce Weber is about to be available. He was a good mid-major type coach, just couldn't hack it in terms of blue chip recruiting or managing egos. Not sure he is a good fit for SMU but we could do worse i suppose.

Greg Marshall at Wichita State might be a good one to pursue. John Kresse disciple and our future Big East membership just might entice him?

I really think we need a 'wow' hire ala JJ. Also, they need to get a CofC for bball specifically so they aren't always trying to beg for money from the fball CofC. Miller has done great for us but we more of his type to support the bball program.
Maybe TB could throw in a few hundred K a year since he is so brilliant I am sure he is also very rich.
GO PONIES!!!

So you are OK with a 71 year old coach who hasn't seen the floor in 4 years?

If he'd take that bulky sweater off and cut down on the donuts, he may be able to see the floor again! His press conferences would be fun to watch. Knight doesn't like Moody. I remember the great upset we had against T Tech many years ago. Fun night... for us.

No question! He can coach. He won't recruit so you need some really good recruiters. He will not mix with the donors unless they have land he can hunt on, or go golfing with in the off-season. He won't talk to the media unless it is Dicky V, Brent M, or Jay B who will be at Moody all the time. He is Methodist. He doesn't need the money.
Wow! Sounds like a great hire. Sign me up...

Nancy Lieberman. She's local, available and would be a little easier on the eyes than Doh.
Although Travis may vehemently disagree with the last point due to his lovefest with Doh.
