Who is your realistic "dream" hire for SMU basketball

Post by ponyinNC »

Ok, while Doh is still the HC at the moment, I think we all see the writing on the wall. If he gets one more year before we join the Big East, I would be shocked. I'd like to hear your opinions on who we could (realistically) hire should we fire Doh this year. And please keep it real - no need to mention Roy Williams or Coack K.

We were all pleasantly surprised with the hiring of June Jones. Can we make a similar "splash" in basketball? I think so - Big East, Moody renovations, Crum Center, talented young players (if we can keep them!!), etc.

So who do you think we can/should go after?

Brad Stevens (dream hire)
Shaka Smart (dream hire)
Tommy Amaker (possibility, but some bigger programs will go after him)
Chris Mack (Currently at Xavier)
Jeff Capel
Ed Cooley (Currently at Providence)
Chris Mooney (Currently at Richmond)

Amaker is the only guy on that list we have a shot at.

Capel is unemployed...you think we have no shot or is there no interest from us?

Wouldn't you have to show "just cause" for Capel? He wasn't under the good graces of the NCAA, when he left OU.

When DOH leaves, I will be glad when DOH's jockstrap leaves too.

TB: We get that you are a Doh fan. But putting that loyalty aside, who are some coaches that you would want to see come here?

What's Rolando Blackmon doing these days. I've always thought he was respected by the media, loved by the Dallas fans, active in the community and communicated extremely well. He's Coaching somewhere-but I thought he'd move up faster. I don't know about his Coaching pedigree but he'd be a Homerun as a Face of the Program in Dallas. I think that's a guy that the general Dallas sports fan might pull for to do well at SMU.
