I am excited about the new Moody but I just hope that it keeps its character. For me, the biggest things that needed to change were the lower bowl, which is so shoddy and looks temporary, and the ceiling and lighting. I wish they could switch off the lights without taking 2 hours to come back on....
And I'm terrified of how SMU will manage to screw the season-ticket holders who have been there a few years when it comes to allocating seats in the new arena.....

Concerned too. The row where I sit is not there anymore in the drawings, been replaced by reserving the entire front row behind the benches for wheelchairs, in the drawings anyway.

Does SMU have a history of screwing season ticket holders that I don't know about?

All I can tell you is that when I recently called about the deposits, I was told that the floor seats were sold out, the demand for MM, LL, OO...etc. was pretty high. I think they were over 300(?) in new deposits.
Plus, we only had about 700 season ticket holders for hoops? Plus, with the pick a seat thing, there should be few logistical problems.
Sounds like we have an entirely new ticket staff because Terry Hemme moved to the Mustang Club.

No, if you buy season tickets, they would offer to blow you instead.

I don't think you do, Abu. But it wouldn't hurt to reach out to the ticket office to confirm. They were very responsive to me.

You should be fine holding onto your current seats, I received an email from the ticket office (unsolicited) that said in part "As it has been in the past, existing Season Ticket Holders will retain right of first refusal for their current seats..."

Gotcha.
FWIW, I semi-disagree about Ford. It's a beautiful stadium that UAB's proposed (but now killed) stadium would have been based on. However, the lack of height of the stadium does make it feel smalltime.[/quote]
Lack of height has nothing to do with it. It is the lack of fans that makes it small time. What's the point of having an upper deck if its just going to be empty. Our games would look like Tulane when they play in the Saints dome.

During one of his interviews with various media outlets (I think it was with the Musers), Brown mentioned his plan to to increase attendance to the point we would need to move some Big East games to the AAC. How cool would that be?
(For those people not in Big East Country, many of the Big East teams including St Johns, Rutgers, and Uconn have smaller arenas but move many of their games to bigger venues when a big crowd is expected).

BTW, MM was right that Moody will begin it's redo in August. They are going to do the outside and the after the season is over for 2012-2013 they will work inside. The opening will be the 1st Big East game in January, 2014. As for Ford, they cannot go any higher than where they are now per University Park/Highland Park heighth restrictions. Believe it or not, the top of the pressbox now is as high as the old "double-wide in the sky" at Ownby. BTW, who was here first??? Just wondering.

Our stadium feels small time because we have a circa-1993 scoreboard, Campisi's as a sponsor and our fraternities and HP Special Olympics playing our halftimes.

Some of those halftime games were better than the SMU game these past couple of seasons.....

You should be chowing down on meatballs at halftime, anyway. And don't knock Campisi's or you could be sleeping with the fishes.
