What the [deleted] did you all expect with Memphis coming in to play? It was about 16 K and when I went into the game there that many STILL in the Blvd..put the Stampede in the end zone for the fans that still want to party..they WILL come off the blvd for a party atmosphere.
Was a student party, or hang out, going on at 3:00 at the new condos on Daniel across from Heroy Hall. I saw a fellow lacrosse dad with an SMU cap at our kids' game in Allen at 4:00 and he said he just left SMU. I gave him a score update and was impressed that he went to the game for half an hour. Nope, he joined someone's Boulevard until almost 3:00. At least he was on campus and wore a cap to the lax games.
More evidence that even our "fans" don't consider SMU football to be a serious thing. We're ranked somewhere between the Allen Americans and the Frisco Roughriders in the DFW fan spectrum, and in a similar place with our own alumni base.

+1. No fan base has been as abused as our fan base has been for the last 25 years.

doesn't care who wins.

I am not an expert on estimating crowds, but I would still guess from Dallas Hall to the end of the Boulevard there had to be at least 30,000 people, most likely more. Maybe I'm wrong, but I truly don't think so. I guess we need more creative ways to get people from point A to point B.

Minnesota? Well, Glen Mason did a decent job for 2-3 years, much like JJ has.

If that's true, that's just nuts. Can there be some kind of requirement to get onto the boulevard? Not just showing tickets, but that you can't keep your tent up 30 minutes past kickoff or something? Maybe those people will just go somewhere else but SMU has GOT to find a way to get a good chunk of those people into that stadium.
People don't consider the game the main event...it's as simple as that. The number of people that show up to the Boulevard in full SMU gear with no plans to attend the game is simply shocking.
The only thing that will change it is if we start knocking off opponents that people care about on a regular basis...like, say...Baylor, A&M, TCU, etc. Our fans, like most Dallas-area fans, are sorry and will only show up if you give them a winner that is the hot ticket.
Kicking people off the Boulevard isn't going to do a damn thing. Winning against teams that matter will.
But by all means, let's schedule down to get some wins. Maybe we can offer a youth group special for a game vs. directional Oklahoma and really get some rabid new fans into the stadium.....

Blaming the Blvd. is ridiculous. People got to the Blvd. to drink. People go to football games to watch football. SMU has mastered the art of public drinking. Somehow diminishing the Blvd. with the idea that it will increase interest in football is nonsense. You cannot forcibly herd people into the stadium. You need them to enter Ford willingly. That means consistent winning and playing quality opponents.
And before you say that SMU has been consistently winning. let me tell you that most of those wins have been against the dregs of college football. Minor bowl games do not impress. Getting blown out when you do manage a large crowd does not impress. Losing to Tulane does not impress.
Nothing about the state of SMU's attendance should come as a surprise.

I do appreciate those bringing dogs to the Blvd on one level, though. At least it's easy to identify the people that I have no desire to talk to or ever know.

And yet we have people (and our coach) that don't want to schedule any of the three.
