Memphis VS SMU attendance 6,158
Attendance: 6,158
Is it really possible it was this low for Homecoming?
This is pathetic.

Lol. No, attendance was NOT 6,158, unless they counted at the end of the 4th quarter

Pathetic! I know, let's leave Before the game is over! There is just no excuse if you truly love SMU football!

box score says 20,000 but I expect a good number of them stayed on the boulevard; looked like about 12-14k max to me

No. I was at the game. Easily 16k. Wouldn't go above that.Charleston Pony wrote:box score says 20,000 but I expect a good number of them stayed on the boulevard; looked like about 12-14k max to me

Not 6,158 but certainly not 20,000 either--there weren't 50 fans in the east upper deck seats and the end zone was largely unoccupied. Maybe 12,000.
Great Homecoming atmosphere but I've never understood the SMU student base--there were as many of them outside the bars on Yale than at the game itself.
Couldn't ask for better weather or a better outcome, yet the students were underrepresented again.

That's because our students have no idea what it means to actually support their school or football team, and most will never care even after they graduate.
A football game just isn't enough about them, so they don't care.

The students don't know what they're missing. This isn't the old excuse when it was about driving to Texas Stadium or even to Fair Park--it's a great stadium within a five minute walk and they still won't go.03Mustang wrote:That's because our students have no idea what it means to actually support their school or football team, and most will never care even after they graduate.
The comments about support are interesting as well. The 22% reunion giving rate announced at the game seemed low for a school like SMU.

$0 is a steep price to pay to watch a football game during a sunny 65 degree day.03Mustang wrote:That's because our students have no idea what it means to actually support their school or football team, and most will never care even after they graduate.

Hoya, it was about 16,000 before halftime. 75% of west side, 40% of East Side, 10% of south end zone, and a few left overs in North End Zone. Plus full suites and club section. It all adds up to about half full.DFW HOYA wrote:Not 6,158 but certainly not 20,000 either--there weren't 50 fans in the east upper deck seats and the end zone was largely unoccupied. Maybe 12,000.
