i think june has had it with our lack of fan support so i wouldn't be surprised to see him leave.
I won't be for Arkansas. Are you talking about him retiring or going to another non BCS team?

i don't know what june has in mind. i wouldn't be surprised if he left for another job. in the past he has said that he would only leave for a pro job. there will be a lot of college job openings this year so he may get a college offer, but not a pro. i doubt he will retire unless he has a substantial amout of cash saved.

I don't care about rumors at this point. And I don't remember Bear Bryant ranting and raving on the sideline. Nor do I remember him giving hugely emotional press conferences or leading the pom pom squad around campus in one gigantic pep rally or anything else like that. I just remembered he coached. Period!

After the season I will curl up into a fetal position and [deleted] thumb and wonder what is to become of us. Till then, I am only concerned with the next game.

I realize others have a different opinion and I respect that. And others want to have different direction now and not later. That is why we are on the board. To discuss differences. I just don’t see how ranting now improves what I desire as a fan which is a win Saturday.

What college would want June after the ASU mess? Just because a job os open does not mean that they would want him. Especially if he goes around .500 in a very weak CUSA conference this year and being 60 years old.

I think June may want this, I doubt Arkansas does.

we would be wise to put the following clause in any agreement with JJ:

Public Statements & Non-Disparagement
June Jones agrees that during the Term, and for six (6) months thereafter, June Jones will not make any statements that disparage or reflect unfavorably on SMU. SMU agrees that during the Term and for six (6) months thereafter, SMU will not make any statements that disparage or reflect unfavorably on June Jones.

I don't believe that jj needs any money. He has made good investments over the years and I believe that he has accumulated a substantial amount of money. IMO he coaches because of ego and challenge.

As seems to be the case with all rumors around JJ, the timing of this is strange and a very unneeded distraction for a team trying to win a conference championship, or trying to get to the Hawaii Bowl.

What happened to the JJ who came here who said if a word came out in the press or anywhere else beforehand that he would deny it and be done? Is this an attempt at leverage for an extension, facilities or other changes again? Is this his agent making another attempt to squeeze money from the only client he has left? Is someone in the AD's office driving any of it because they have already picked their replacement and are trying to facilitate a graceful exit for JJ to another program? Or is it just another sign of the blatant disrespect that JJ shows SMU and its fanbase? I honestly have no idea but these things always strike me as rather odd and so contrary to how JJ operated before coming here that one has to wonder about the motivations behind such a shift.

overreaction Wednesday, it is a tweet from a Rumor Mill.

What has already been stated - he has time left on his contract and someone would have to hire him away or there be a retirement settlement.

I'm pulling for us to get to our 4th bowl appearance in June's 5 years on the Hilltop. Some "fans" need to reassess their November priorities.

Ridiculous speculation that Arkansas would EVER be interested in JJ! Absurd! Not even a hint of his name in Arkansas!

someone posted this rumor yesterday. I don't think there's a whole lot to read into here. No surprise to anyone that June's job would be "up in the air seeing" that plenty of people were upset with our performance to start the season and the fact that JJ has explored other coaching options for the last 2 years in a row.

I appreciate that things have turned around since the UH game and hope the season continues this way. Let's worry about whether or not he's going to be here when there's more concrete evidence one way or the other. I can't IMAGINE arkansas or really anyone else besides maybe hawaii would be interested in hiring him away from us. I do hope that Hart has started looking into replacements though since we are certainly going to need to make a big hire whether it's this year or next.

I hope all the fans here realize that if someone says something on the Internet there's a very good chance it could be wrong.
