I guess a more PC way that CJ could have responded would have been to add: "Of course, I hope that my alma mater, SMU, gets invited to the Big XII. I know that many of my teammates miss games with UT, A&M and Baylor and would like to renew those rivalries. SMU has made great strides implementing suggestions made by myself and others to improve our competitiveness and June Jones is making them a program to watch". No one would have faulted him for saying that. Of course, TT probably is dropping a black ball on SMU due to the Leach/James fiasco.

Bingo....the guy should have a little class...

I interview kids from the top schools in the nation for jobs at our firm....but I will always get a SMU kid an interview b/c the school has meaning to me and I want the school to continue getting better...

Not unlike when Troy Aikman was at the first JJ two-a-day to lend support of then Mustang walkon and now Aggie walkon Winston Gamso. Aikman's comments were something to the effect of yeah, they're here in my backyard, so anything I can do to support, great...of course my loyalty is to UCLA, but...

Oh, and...last I checked, Aikman is a higher profile commentator than is CJ.

I have no idea what motivated James' comments.

However, I for one am not interested in the Big XII-2 anytime soon. It is a conference on life support. And I doubt, given the history of the conference, SMU would be given a fair shake by UT either in admittance to the conference or $ allocations.

The Big XII-2 isn’t set up to be a long term viable conference at present.

In a Machiavellian way, James is setting two former SWC teams up for disappointment if they joined the Big XII-2. I doubt James has any love for TCU or the Beloved Razorbacks. If both moved to the Big XII-2, they would have to deal with conference scramble in a couple of years. Now I doubt James has a sinister bone in his body but it is delicious to suggest that two teams that have not helped SMU (Beloved Razorbacks defection to the SEC help destroy the SWC & TCU has moved from WAC to MWC which diluted the conferences SMU was in or joined) join a dying conference.

Anybody heard if fellow analyst Andre Ware is backing TCU for the Big 12 - or Houston?

Would be interesting to hear how he approaches "his job."
