No chance of Arkyland heading west. The Beloved Razorbacks have it great in the SEC.

Looks like he's out scrounging for votes in Texarkana. He needs to replace all those votes he lost in Lubbock.

Is he really going to run for senate? What a monumental waste of time.
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

I'm very disappointed to hear this from James. Too bad.
I've always been a fan of his, but the more I hear from him ... what a jerk, as far as SMU is concerned.

According to WFAA Channel 8 news this morning, in their "Texas Politics" segment, the legislature is being urged to get UH and TCU into the Big XII. Where the hell are our political supporters. I'm tired of this [deleted].
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Only at SMU, baby.
Does JJ ever wonder what the h#ll is going on around here? Here you've one of SMU's greatest players ever publicly hyping archrival TCU for a rare spot in a better conference. (Can anybody imagine LT talking up SMU?) Then there's the continuing academic roadblocks and a local media that completely ignored SMU during landmark discussions of conference realignment.

Exactly. We're are hurting big-time when it comes to politics.

I can't help but notice that most of the people making suggestions about Big-12 membership are veterans of the SWC era. There is a lot of nolstalgia going on here. I think a lot of these guys would rather see the SWC come back. But that is just not reality. There is no way UH or TCU would be admitted into the Big-12. It's not about tradition or regional rivalries any more (for that matter, it's not about on-field performance either). It's about money and TV sets. . .and neither TCU nor UH deliver that to the Big-12. As for Arkansas, I can't imagine they would have any interest in leaving the SEC for some newfangled version of the dysfunctional conference they escaped from in 1992.
James and others can say whatever they want. It's nothing more than empty talk. If the Texas legislature actually stepped in and attempted to dicate new members to the Big-12(10), it would cause the breakup of the conference. Not least because UT, A&M, Tech, and (barf) Baylor, have no interest in adding more Texas schools.

Look, UT runs that conference, and until UT wants to expand, it will not expand. Hell, UT runs pretty much all of college football now, so don't hold your breath.

Adding teams to the "new" Big 12 is a waste of time anyway...that conference is going to blow up completely within 3 years. You can't have a "conference" based on inequality....plenty of precedent on that.

Texas, A&M and Baylor all cited maintaining traditional rivalries as a reason to stay put, (though, granted, money was "the decider.")
But fans of all ages would get a kick out of an all-Texas-team Big 12 South - not just nostalgic, drooling gray beards. And how do SMU, TCU or Houston not bring TV sets when they're playing Tech, Texas, A&M and Baylor? Throw in some big-name OOC games too.
