As long as we're talking anecdotal evidence, I had a great experience in Lubbock in 2008 except for the final score. Tailgated with a great group of Tech alumni...I'd agree that Leach's tenure brought out and encouraged all the bad seeds. Plenty of bad fans amongst our number too.

I agree StallionsModelT. Look at the video link below to see a group of
Texas Tech fans getting their jollies throwing crap at the windshield
of an opposing teams equipment truck and threatening to tip the team equipment
truck over. Yeah real classy messing with a visiting team's equipment truck.
But hey I am sure it was the other team's fault!

Tell me you mistakenly posted a bleacherreport.com article. Wasn't it agreed that bleacherreport.com articles would no longer be posted on this website?

Hmmm, let's see, after doing some research on this topic, is Tech included in a few lists? Sure, but they aren't #1, or #2, and they aren't even listed in most of the lsts I've seen. Even some of the Huskers' lists.

Of course this one was written by a Texas fan. Just look at his summary of Florida, and you'll see he admits to it.

People may not have the best experiences at Tech games, but they are hardly 'THE WORST" in the Country. Some visiting fans have had a great time visiting the Tech games, and there are some who have had bad experiences. But, those of you who say "assaults happen all the time at Tech games..." are out of your mind. I think some of you have NEVER been to Jones Stadium, and listen to all the horror stories, and haven't even experienced it yourself.

There have been many Husker fans comment us on how good Tech fans were, and there have been some Husker fans who didn't like the visit.

Yes...apparently that's a list of "Worst Places to Watch a Game", and not necessarily a list of "The Worst Fanbases".

Here is a breakdown done by Outside The Lines on ESPN. They list arrests and ejections from different colleges around the country. Tech is not listed, but it is interesting...

OK - we’ve all talked about who we think has the worst fans and talk about how we Aggies are the best there are. Personally, there are only two places in NCAA football I refuse to attend a game - LSU (worst fans ever) and Tech (close second).

Well, an Oklahoma newspaper surveyed the players at the Big XII Media Day about their thoughts, and here is what they said. Thankfully, it pretty much confirms my own observations:

Tech does suck - and it’s not even close.

The Oklahoman’s Jake Trotter polled 29 of the 38 players at Big 12 Media Days, including at least one from each school. These are their answers.

Who has the best fans?
Nebraska, 29%
Texas A&M, 24%
Oklahoma, 14%
Kansas, 10%
Texas, 10%

Other receiving votes: Missouri, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech

Quotable: "It’s weird. It’s oh-so weird. When you go up there, you expect to get yelled at and trashed. Next thing you know, they’re all talking nice, like ‘Have a good game.’ Then, after the game, they’re like, ‘Good game, guys, good game.’ It’s weird, it throws you for a loop." - a Big 12 North offensive player, on playing in front of Nebraska fans

Quotable II: "Nebraska fans always cheer you on, even though they want you to lose." - a Big 12 North defensive player

Who has the worst fans?
Texas Tech, 32%
Kansas, 16%
Missouri, 11%
Nebraska, 11%
Oklahoma State, 11%

Other receiving votes: Baylor, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas

Quotable: "After we lost to them, they ran on the field and tried to beat us up. They’re the worst." - a Big 12 South offensive player, on Texas Tech fans

Quotable II: "Kansas fans treated us bad for some reason. I have no idea why, either." - a Big 12 South defensive player

And here a coach tries to teach his player something. He should have known that was asking to get pelted in the head by a Tech player.

And here a player has the gall to run with the football. A friendly Tech player on the sideline is nice enough to straighten him out.

I can't wait till Sunday... I am stocked up on batteries from AA to Car batteries, and just finished stretching my throwing arm. After I finish off all of my battery throwing, I am going to find the first grandma in a SMU shirt and push her wheelchair down a flight of stairs and then slap her little grandchild in the face... that's just how we do it in Tech country!

This thread is a joke.

My post this a.m. was not about if Tech fans were the worst, again all schools have a**holes. I'm not a Tech hater, my law partner and good friends are Tech alums and they are fine. Even go to the Alamo Bowl with them when Tech plays.

Point was there is enough of an issue at Tech games that the conference asked the school to look into, and that Hance and the administration (and even some in student goverment) are trying to clean it up. That is not opinion, it is fact - there are examples you can pull off internet but I have witnessed the conference call from my office on how they were going to try and address this. It is a liability issue for whoever gets hurt (other teams fans/band or Tech fans/band).

You are not being objective if you don't acknowlege it is an issue. Is it worse than other places, I don't know but it is an issue at Tech-more so when people get injured. The school would not be trying to address it, do sportsmanship campaigns, etc. if there was no problem in the first place.
