Facts -- Tech Fans

Post by Pony in SA »

I have read the back and forths on Tech fans. This is not to fan the flames, and you all know I do not sit and post just to post. This also is not an indictment on all Tech fans, as there are a**holes everywhere (including SMU). However, the facts are the university itself is concerned about the actions of their students and others at the games and that is why Hance and others have had multiple meetings about different ways to get their fans to be more respectful. My law partner has sat in on conference calls with adminstration officials on what they can do to minimize the violence, vulgar language and attitude at the games. Their administration is concerned primarily from a liability standpoint, and the BIG XII conference has essentially asked them to do something about it. One comment made was they needed to calm their people down so they were more like Nebraska fans.

And if you do not think their have been more assaults at that stadium then other Big XII stadiums you are mistaken. The conference tracks numbers on these things. We were asked to represent two fans over the age of 50 who were injured by Tech students at different games. It does happen everywhere but it is increased at Tech and those are the facts. The good thing is the administration there gets it and is really trying to clean things up.

It's about time they do something about it, it's been going on for years!

Worst. Fans. Ever.

Only two times I have ever felt in fear for my personal safety at a sports event were at Jones, and at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.
Stallion doesn't think I'm a stinkin' genius anymore.

I wonder if the decorum of the fans will imitate the new head coach. Tuberville is general a class act and his teams don't play like jerks. No running up the score or cheap shots. They play hard. Leach was a at best unsportsman like. TTU fans were not always the way they are portrayed now. One wonders if the leadership skills of Leach rubbed off on the fans as well.

Mex the changes you propose could seriously hurt the Tech Hotties thread.

Somebody at work asked if i was going to the game; I said, "Hell Mother $%^$in' no." And it is because of Tech fan. I don't think it is the students or the alums. Everyone I know that is a tech alum is an allright person. I think it is the non-alum Tech fan.

I recall Tech fan coming to Ford. I also recall OSU fan fan coming to Ford. Really two very similar situations, but the OSU fans were relatively friendly. Sure, they had a good time beating our brains in, but they were at least respectful.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I believe you are right. Most alumnia and students are really good people, but West Texas is a little like Arkansas, never know who might show up with their "father-uncle", "mother-sister"...

It is being dealt with...by the security. People get arrested at the games. How else are you going to control 50,000+ fans? Are they suppose to sign some sort of "Code of Ethics" before entering the gates?

I have heard a lot of good things from visiting fans, just like I have heard bad things. A lot of bad things people say, they are regurgitating it from Aggies.

If the Big12 really is getting involved, then Beebe needs to keep his nose out of it, because it's not his issue to deal with...if in fact it's as big a problem as people say.

Also, it doesn't bother me if visiting fans don't want to come visit. It just makes Tech's homefield that much better.

Really, though, this whole thing is a bunch of nonsense, and is being blown way out of proportion. I've had things thrown at me in 1996 when I was in Norman watching Tech spank OU. Why? Because I was cheering for Tech.

I can socialize with the richest man in the world on his yacht. Or I can make friends in a motorcycle club bar. I intend to have a great time with Lubbock fans because I’m street smart, respectful of where I’m at, and will avoid physical confrontation with savvy people skills.

If all of the above fails because of alcohol please get me out of jail before Monday.

That is all.
