Bummer, too bad for Zach. He was playing hurt all year.
Hopefully Williams can step up. I would assume we'll pass a lot more.

Get well soon Zach. You've had a great couple of years. Wish we had more like you.

I expect some decent rushing yards from Williams because that's how SMU rushing attack works when the defense is looking for the pass. There will be some huge holes when they have 5 in the box like there has been all year. He won't get the jaw breaking tough yards or yards after contact Line does but he just might break some big runs too. I'm more concerned with pass blocking

That's right and Line is an effective blocker so our already impotent passing game just got worse.

That's a good point. Do you think Houston might blitz a little? I hope that siren doesn't go off too many times. If the O-line does their "llok out blocks" we might see a fish at QB again in Houston. Another blown RS. Beas, ready to play QB?

I think Houston is going to run zone early and try getting a rush without blitzing, we'll see some zone blitzes if McD has success against the soft stuff. I seriously doubt we'll see any heavy sell out blitzing. Honestly I wouldn't mind seeing Beasley taking snaps in the Wildcat if things aren't going well early, June's not going to burn Preston's redshirt this late in the season. If McD goes down then we'll see Kaiser or a walk-on.

I would really love to see Beas take a few snaps at QB. Can you imagine how confusing it would be for cougar high d if we actually ran a few option plays etc. I suspect they game planned us for a weak armed, immobile QB and lots of Z up the middle.
GO PONIES!!!

I know everyone hates burning redshirts but with the influx of QB's in the next two years why not throw Preston out there to see what hes got. Next year we will have Padron, Preston, Burcham, Kaiser. The following year we have Gilbert, Preston, Kaiser, Burcham, Printz and possibly another.

I'd vote for a little of Jeremy Johnson. He was a pretty good dual threat at QB at John Tyler a couple of years ago

Don't forget that Mcd has never used a redshirt year. He graduates in December but could go to graduate school here at SMU and apply for a redshirt year to play next season. It was brought up by someone on the current football staff and I have no idea how it works but he can't apply until after his eligibility is expired, and we all wouldn't know until after it goes through NCAA channels.

This really sucks.
Hes such a badass. Seems like a great young man. What a bad time to lose the rest of your season.

He only had a handful of plays last year, so he could apply for the medical. Padron has pretty much the same injury that JJ had last year.

Here's my entry for the silver lining award.
As long as we are down in the Bayou City, why don't we consult with the genius at houston high that was able to get keenum an extra year of eligibility? See if he can work his "magic" and get this year medically red shirted for Zach....

Didn't McD redshirt after transferring to SMU and sat out a year?
