Do we even know if Klemm can recruit without June as head coach?

I imagine 90% of his pitch is "I ended up in Hawaii because I didn't have a lot of offers coming out of high school. Then June Jones showed up and turned me into a 2nd round NFL draft pick. Come play for us and we'll get you to the NFL too."

....And based on most of the comments from commits, it sounds like that is why they signed up. They think playing for June is a ticket to the NFL.

If it is known that we are getting a new HC in 2013 then that class is already screwed. It's a much tougher sell after June leaves and you are left with Klemm as your HC. Have to bring in some very strong coordinators, most you would assume would be more qualified to be HC than Klemm. Let's see the dynamics on that staff. Or are we just going super young, inexperienced but potentially excellent with all coaching positions. Again, Klemm is not the be all end all. Mabye some day, but not today.

His pitch has been detailed here many times...it has nothing to do with JJ other than we throw the ball a lot...

He sells the school and himself...exactly what we need...

He tells them that coming to SMU will better your life whether NFL or professional.

Whatever. This argument is tiresome. One of two things will happen. Klemm will get the HC job in 2013 (and to do that I would guess you better be throwing some major cash towards the Athletic Department) or he won't.

I'll put 90% of my net worth on he won't get it.

Have to save the other 10% for my alimony and child support payments.

Not only the 2013 class--the 2012 class is already screwed too. How many of the 2012 class will transfer as soon as he leaves? How many of them are already having second thoughts and will go somewhere else this year?

The one and done idea is horrible on so many levels. I can't believe it is even being discussed. It is only about money and egos and is going to put us in a hole for many years to come. The only way it is feasible for Jones to stay at this point is if he signs a new contract with a huge buyout. Otherwise he has to go now so we can move on.

My whole argument is based on 1 and done, which is most likely right now...

There is not a better alternative in that scenerio

If he leaves now I am fine with going and getting a new guy, Dykes, morris, malzahn, ect.

Problem is the only one available right now is Mike Stoops--

Not really....
We outsiders have no idea who is "really available".
2 pools to draw from: the "unemployed" you speak of & the "employed" as well.
Just because someone is employed doesnt mean they are "not available".
Under your scenario June Jones wouldn't have been "available" for ASU.
The best deals are not usually well publicized.
The "insiders" know from feelers & whispers who is "available".
We should not limit our candidates to people widely known as "available".

Sorry that wasn't quite clear. There are the unemployed and the employed. However, most of the employed head coaches worth getting are gone already (or will be by week's end.)

And I'm assuming we aren't getting a head coach from a current BCS program that is winning. Best non-BCS coaches available are Peterson, Sumlin, Fedora, and our very own June Jones. 3 who have better jobs or will shortly. 1 who is already here but doesn't want to be.

I admit I don't know my MAC/Sunbelt coaches very well, so maybe there is a diamond in the rough amongst them, but that puts us in the coordinator arena most likely.

Maybe ....maybe not.
Nick I think this is stil a very fluid situation.
There are several other scenarios....
June could end up back at Hawaii.
June could end up at Kansas.
June could land currently some plece unknown to us "outsiders".
The full details we are not privy to may dictate what Orisini does.
For example....if Orsini concludes June would really be cancer...
or if a bunch of June's asst coaches start bailing.....
Orsini may decide he has no choice but to pull trigger now.
If Orsini thinks this can be salvaged for a year...not perfect...but somewhat "salvaged"
he may stick with June...salvage some recruits...and save some money.
But I think if Orsini sees the "perfect candidate" available under the radar
Orsini may say "2012 be damned I am cleaning house & hiring this guy for our future".

Ok..you really dont know much...so lets get back to what is likely to happen

75% chance he stays at SMu for 12 months...Who has a solution to solve lame duck period?
