for the first half i sat near the student section. except for a couple of international students there was complete apathy. no one made any noise on third downs.
when i walked over to the west side at halftime (darn, i missed the homecoming queen/king coronation) people were leaving. some were just coming in and probably left as soon as the coronation ended.
june complained about the crowd on his post game interview. he said something like i wish we could get more fans in here.

here is my theory: and i hate to admit it but when ut plays at the same time we do our home crowd is always lower. they actually come out to see us but ut trumps smu.
i guess w is not a ut fan.

This isn't the SWC. Travel too far and too expensive to sustain a traveling fan base. Thanks to our very few fans who follow the team on the road. See you in Orlando???

Best guess is around 15K at kickoff. By the end of the third quarter I'd say there were 8 or 9K in the stands.

The irony is that when he is on a TV interview or radio interview he rarely makes a pitch to the audience encouraging them to come out to watch a game. I guess it is the same theory in recruiting fans as it is in recruiting players...they will come unasked just because it is June Jones standing on the sideline.

Pull a Tulane and your positive momentum and net gains for the past however many months just goes south immediately.

We're 13-1 at home in-conference. I hate to say it, but we ARE winning!

Not to beat a dead horse on attendance (pun), but if JJ and team had beat Baylor, Tulane and TCU as maybe they could have if the team were where it is today, then he would have his crowd. Just too many losing years to overcome.

28-32 overall, 0 conference championships, 0 10 + win seasons, 1-9 record (0-4 at Ford) against TCU, Baylor, Tech and A&M and not a single week spent ranked. We are not winning at a level that will capture the attention of Dallas. The least June could do is acknowledge his role in the problem if he wants to continue to whine about attendance.

Yes, if we were a perennial BCS team, we would have higher attendance.

How people don't get convinced by sbsmith comment is beyond me. I'm hoping next year is different as we all hope for. I hope Aresco gets a nice tv package because winning on national television gets alums who don't go to the games get some pride and interest as well as the Dallas people who go to bars watch. We need the tv deal more than anything and it sure would be nice to hand that (as well a bowl win against a decent opponent) to make tv deal go up in value
