Re: Here we go Again
Arkansas has taken a strong turn towards Tommy Tuberville. He actually called into a sports talks show today in Little Rock. I did not hear it but apparently from the comments I have heard, he was kind of selling himself on the Arkansas job. It has been his dream job from day 1.

It would be pretty funny if Tubs goes to Arkyland, JJ to Tech, and the Pirate to SMU!mrydel wrote:Arkansas has taken a strong turn towards Tommy Tuberville. I doubt that this is much of a distraction. The internet is a breeding ground for the wildest of rumors and history has shown that bloggers and internet "journalists" will say just about anything to fill up space on their pages. On top of that, anyone who doesn't understand that, with a handful of exceptions, the majority of coaches are subject to being fired or lured away or resigning at the end of every season, is living in a fairy tale. Its just the world in which we live.LA_Mustang wrote:As seems to be the case with all rumors around JJ, the timing of this is strange and a very unneeded distraction for a team trying to win a conference championship, or trying to get to the Hawaii Bowl.

Seriously, if you are running a rumor-mongering twitter feed, June is an easy name to just throw out there for the hell of it - and if it happens you can claim to be right and if it doesn't happen nobody will even remember or care.
After the ASU fiasco and the very public backlash after the Tulane loss, this dude really isn't going out on too far of a limb.
He is just taking a wild swing. Good for discussion and speculation, but there is no real basis behind it.

I have not heard anything about JJ going to the Hog Callers from Hog Waller. But it's not a far-fetched idea. They did once hire a guy who lost to The Citadel. I'd take Chizik as defensive coordinator but not as head coach.
Anybody consider Major Applewhite, who is rotting down in Austin, as a good replacement? Or Gus Malzan (sp.) or the HC at Wyoming, who I really like.

Can Applewhite recruit like a fiend? We need one of those guys.

Tabloid rumor material .... the world lives for the gossip and dirt. I just read at the Albertson check-out line that Oprah and Steadman were on the rocks ...again for 20th time in the last 5years, and Jenifer Anistons is still too in love with Brad to go through with her marriage.

Re: Here we go Again
Correction: Arkansas FIRED the coach who lost to the Citadel...Jack Crow.
Long live Inez Perez!
Re: Here we go Again
Helfrich the OC at Oregon should be te next HC, he also did really well as a QB coach for Boise, He is young and we would represent his "big Break" which I think would create the kind of enthusiasm we've been looking for in a HC. Oregon also constantly gets their skilled players from texas I bet he knows the lay of the land pretty well for an out of state coach.

Re: Here we go Again
Even though I a sure no one cares, the latest on the Arkansas search is that a coach has already been selected but will not be named until the end of the season.
3 "reliable" sources have said:
1. Patterson has accepted the job
2. Gruden has "agreed in principal" to a deal
3. Gundy wants out of Okie lite and has accepted the Arkie job
As the Rivals rep said when asked how reliable the rumors were, "Well at least 2/3 of them have to be wrong".

Re: Here we go Again
With TCU now in the big 12, I seriously doubt he would leave TCU...certainly not for Arkansas.
I believe he is the winningest coach in TCU history, or close to it if not.
1. He gets pretty much whatever he asks for from the TCU Admin.
2. The new facilities he has to work with are outstanding.
3. TCU will not let a salary issue get in the way of keeping him if it comes to that.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Now that's really interesting. I think it's Gruden.mrydel wrote:Even though I a sure no one cares, the latest on the Arkansas search is that a coach has already been selected but will not be named until the end of the season.

coaching in the SEC >coaching in the big 12. Patterson going to arky is a definite possibility - and can you think of a better fit for wearing a plastic pig then Patterson?
