I keep seeing West Virginia mentioned as an ACC possibility. Why would they leave the Big 12 - and could they? What is their appeal academically, athletically or even market size? The only thing in their favor is proximity to a few ACC schools.

They always seemed like a very odd addition to the Big 12, but even stranger as a possible ACC add.

WV has had lots of success in FB historically. Large stadium that regularly sells out.
Yes, academically they are a little sniffable. However, some great programs in
specific fields. Definitely a fit geographically. I do not see them as an odd choice
for the ACC at all.

If we are invited to join the ACC, I would be happy for WVU to be invited as well. Hell, Sul Ross and Tarleton State could be our travel partners and that would be fine, too.

Depending on what a future ACC might look like, SMU moving to the ACC trumps our attempted move to the Big East as far as I'm concerned

Interesting article on ACC expansion.  The author feels all three are unlikely to get the votes but how little each is willing to take in media money may heavily impact the outcome

Teel is very well respected and experienced in ACC country. His take is frankly more favorable to SMU than I expected. And heΓÇÖs aware of the willingness to take a reduced share, which a lot of commenters arenΓÇÖt.
