Willis's job is not set in stone. His height works against him...he is too short to see his open downfield receivers which is why he scrambles so much. It's very possible we see a change with a passer who is taller and can deliver 3, 5, 7 step drops without scrambling and making completions on broken plays. Justin needs to work more on his being patient in the pocket and putting more zip on his passes...no more rainbows

You must be a recruiter or an idiot. Football games are won on hart and skills. I will explain it to you this way in two different scenarios. J-Will took the hit in the first quarter against Rice where the DB had to leave the game. This week J-Will will have his wrist and hand, from that collision x-rayed. He also stated that he did not remember anything from the first half until the 4th quarter. There are also two different types of QB's that OC's coach. 1. That can run your playbook and the other you have to create plays for the QB to run. J-Will is out man with heart and smartness. Running for your life has to do with 5 O-Linemen that cannot block 3 D-Lineman, but we know when you are the QB it is feast of famine? J-Will can run any offense, but he needs help like any Qb?

is it his throwing wrist and hand? I hope not. If so, if there's a broken scaphoid or a hamate problem, it could be tough coming back 100%. The scaphoid, if fractured, wouldn't show up till now anyway. The hamate problem is one of a multitude of things that doomed Ryan Leaf's NFL career (that and the problem betweent the ears).

A player can have hart ( or in medical terms heart) but he also has a responsiblity to tell his coaches if he is injured. He can then plead his case to stay in. But if what you say is true, Willis should have sat out a series or two to recover rather than deceiving the coaches as to his condition. And stop that 3 on 5 statement. Yes they ran a 3 man front but they brought LBs on every play. Now you can make a strong case that our lineman could not handle the confusion but stop with this 3 on 5 thing.

This is a textbook case of wimping out -- pure and simple
Good point. The exception would be Texas Tech I guess. Didn't they have 3 5th-year seniors as their starting QB in 3 years??? It's not often that I say this, but maybe we could learn something from the coach.
so we should have road bartel out through the storm? or tate? or Phillips?Junior wrote:PerunaPunch wrote:I do. What happened to kids coming in and fighting for the starting spot? If all the backups leave, where's the competition?

Not at all. I was making the point that the coach out in Lubbock somehow convinced his upperclassmen backups to stick it out and hopefully compete for a starting position someday, as opposed to transfer to a D2 school or get the band back together. Not all players need to stay, but the competitors will.

He is still short and he still can't see Bobby Chase for wide open TDs. I'm not saying he doesn't have heart or the will to keep the job, but I don't think the job should be his on a platter for 2007. If someone comes in at 6'3" 190 lbs and can deliver the football then they should be considered for the starting job if they are willing to exceed JWill's effort. As for Flutie....should I post pictures of every successful QB who is taller than 5'10"? And Willis would punch anyone who does a drop kick because it is completely homo
not completely accurate... Nathan Chandler of Southlake went to Tech, then left because he didn't want to wait to play... spent some time at a JC, and then transefered to Iowa where he started as a senior and was signed by the Bills... his brother Scott is a 6'7 tight end for themJunior wrote:expony18 wrote:so we should have road bartel out through the storm? or tate? or Phillips?Junior wrote:PerunaPunch wrote:I do. Agreed. But then again, last time I checked we didn't exactly have a logjam of talent behind Willis. Or any other position for that matter.
