Agreed. And even if it were fully true, everyone has to admit shock that this thing has worked out so far the way it has. We might just as probably be cursing JJ for getting us Larry Brown at this point.

ponyboy wrote:Haha. There are plenty of links showing I'm full of crap. But I don't believe I made a public prediction last year. Being a "cheerleader", I tend to keep opinions to myself that are not supportive of what SMU's teams are trying to do. I believe it to be counter-productive.
Which makes you even more full of crap because you are cheerleading while not backing up all your sunny pathetic unrealistic optimism. Here is one thing you did say-you jumped all over some "stupid prediction" ranking SMU as the 99th best team in the country. You said it was WAY WAY too low. In fact, SMU finished No. 102 in the Sagarin ratings with no quality victories over even TOP 100 teams. If you didn't predict 5-7 last year why did you state you did above? Again, you have been more wrong about more things for longer than just about any SMU fan on these message boards. You'd have to be an idiot to take stock in ponyboy's prediction anyway

Only after Larry sent him a tape of him coaching a game.
I heard that Larry really sealed the deal, when he sent JJ a transparency for his overhead of him playing ball at UNC.

I think 94 was joking when he said that. Cal, Turgeon, and Self made the call to Orisini to get Larry Brown the interview not June. June just encouraged him to hang in there while he was waiting for an interview. This is well documented.

I notice the 3 star RB from Sachse who expressed real interest in SMU from both his family and himself picked up 2 more offers since that story.

For the record, Adam, the author, has been a friend of mine for several years, it was not meant to be positive at all. Every local HS coach he's talked to think June either doesn't get or more likely just doesn't care. FWIW
I know that the article is aimed at June's crappy recruiting, I only pointed out something one of the coaches said, that we have stepped it up this year, which is somewhat positive. There is a ton of work to do, which is why I said many of us should email Hart so that action can be taken. When a HS coach has to say that UNT, TCU, Texas Tech, Aggie and UT live in their school, June's recruiting sucks...period.

3 star WR JF Thomas one of the Dallas SOC kids they are talking about just committed to TCU-had an offer from SMU and several more

That is sad. Thomas is tall and we need some more tall WR's.

DMN picked up this story. Not good at all. The second sentence is terrible
"June Jones and SMU don’t have the best reputation for landing top talent in their own backyard- or any local talent for that matter."
