I do trust Larry because he knows the game and he knows the system that he likes to run. We may not attract a bunch of 5 star players each year because they have no interest in playing defense. Maybe it is another reason, I don't know. What I do know is that we are involved in recruiting highly regarded talent that other teams want. We swing and miss on the same guys that a lot of teams swing and miss on. That is part of doing business at this level.

Blind trust is not something I subscribe to in general but I do have faith that this staff knows what they are doing until they show me otherwise.

How do you know 5 star athletes don't like to play defense? Do you know any 5 star athletes or are you making a unfair generalization? Duke gets 5 star athletes and they play defense. Your remarks seems somewhat uninformed and asinine on that.

Sorry if you missed my point. I thought I was clear. What I said was maybe they don't have an interest or maybe it is another reason. Maybe our staff does not give in to everything a recruit wants? Maybe they do not want to fight for playing time against established guys on our roster? Jalen told Larry he wanted guaranteed time and Larry did not do that and Jalen left. That is the attitude that SOME kids have. I don't hang around a lot of 5 star players at my age so no, I don't know any of them. My opinion, which you do not need to agree with, is that we fill the pipeline with players that will be here for a few years and not worry as much about the 5 star guys that come to school for a semester and then leave for the pros. Sure, I would love to sprinkle those guys in the mix every now and then, but look at the team and the performance on the court to judge this staff instead of how many guys we are NOT signing. The point is to win games and that is happening.

Jalen was not a 5 star recruit. I think if Coach Brown could load the roster with 4 and 5 star recruits he would do it. Now Elijah Thomas is a 5 star recruit, are you saying that you don't want him?

I'm not comparing the two coaches to one another. I'm drawing an analogy in how we, the fan base, acted without knowledge and to our detriment, when a prior coach who was much-heralded at the time took over.

I'm saying that your analogy is invalid given the fact that we can actually trust LB based on what he's done in the last 2 seasons and throughout his 50 year career. June Jones came to SMU with no real history except a fluke appearance in the Sugar Bowl where he got stomped. Apples and oranges.
