I think you also have to realize the CoC wasn't knocking down the door to buy him out. I think there are a lot of people who misinterpret living in reality with full-fledged support.

Had success, not generally "A" success.

Unless you consider WW1 "A" success for Germany. Took on 3 world powers in a two front war. Beat the Russians. In far better shape than France or Britain at that point and could have won with the U.S. entering. Fewer casualties than the other side at wars end. Guess it was good for them just like June.
