That is a pretty big leap from what stallion said to CMF's response.

Hmmm, I wonder what is happening in the college basketball world right now that might take away some of the press?

The American Athletic Conference board of directors will vote on Friday to decide if it will admit Wichita State and if yes, will it happen for next season, according to a source with direct knowledge. Wichita State needs 75 percent of the votes for admission. The AAC is expected to add the Shockers and unless there is a hiccup for the 2017-18 season. Another source with direct knowledge said the Shockers want to go for next season and are willing to pass up all of its previous NCAA tournament units from winning games in the tournament to leave before the 24 month deadline to the Missouri Valley Conference without a penalty.

The last lingering detail to be resolved regarded when Wichita State would begin play in the league. That appears to be settled for 2017–18, as the Shockers return all their key players from a team that went 31–5 and finished No. 8 in Ken Pomeroy’s final rankings this season.

With a potential Final Four team returning, Wichita State’s likely move to the American will give it a tougher conference schedule, higher visibility and help it secure a higher seed from the NCAA tournament selection committee. The Shockers were a No. 10 seed in the NCAA tournament this year, a stunningly low placement considering their record and talent level.

Wichita State’s admission will make the AAC a 12-member league. The expectation is that league members will play an 18-game conference schedule in basketball.

Man they will be fun to watch at Moody. If we can ever get UConn, Temple and Memphis to carry their historical weight, we'd have a hell of a basketball conference.

I assume we will play home/home against the AAC West and that means WSU, Tulsa, Houston, Memphis & Tulane. One game against East division so only one meeting each year with Cincy, Temple, UConn, UCF, USF & ECU. Pretty good balance of power with those divisions

Cincy and UCONN are always the biggest crowds of the season. Would be sad if we don't get them both at Moody.
