Cook should never see the floor in a SMU uniform. If he collapses again, there will be a lawsuit (warranted or not) accusing the school of putting health before sports. Offer him a medical retirement and allow him to find another school if an academic ride is not for him. See, Hank Gathers.

I agree with the above. I do wonder if a former player can be a manager after a medical retirement if there is a desire to stay with the team.

The answer to that is yes. I was a medical retired FB player and continued as a student coach my last 2 seasons.

Happens all the time in football. I can think of a couple players that were medicalled and stayed to work with the video staff, etc.No Quarter wrote:^ ^ ^ ^PonyLaw90 wrote:Cook should never see the floor in a SMU uniform. Actually it was part of the emancipation proclamation in the 1860’s.One Trick Pony wrote:Yeah but didn't they change the rules since 1720??mrydel wrote:The answer to that is yes. I was a medical retired FB player and continued as a student coach my last 2 seasons.

Anyone willing to take a qualified guess as to whether either or both of the transfers will get to play next year per the ncaa?

My totally unqualified guess is that McNeil plays and Davis sits.
McNeil is legitimately moving closer to his mom, who is on disability.
Davis is basically just escaping one coach on disability for another one. Much is being made lately of the program you leave endorsing the waiver application. The only thing I can see Jamie Dixon endorsing is his hair gel.

Just curious if this is an intentional reference to South Park's comparison of student athletes to slaves? If so, brilliant; if not, go watch it--Cartman as the caricature of a Southern plantation owner wanting tips on managing his "student ath-uh-letes" from the University of Colorado is hilarious.mrydel wrote:Actually it was part of the emancipation proclamation in the 1860’s.One Trick Pony wrote:Yeah but didn't they change the rules since 1720??mrydel wrote:The answer to that is yes.
