That would help...an announcement on the contract that is, one way or the other.

Players are getting a free education at one of the most expensive schools in the nation. I hear the whining about tutor support, but the LEC is literally ATTACHED TO FORD STADIUM. Yes being a student athlete is demanding but so is being a normal student that doesn't have the benefit of free tuition or stipends. They are here to play football and in exchange SMU provides them with a free education. Their obligation is to perform regardless of the crowd size or calls of mutiny from the fans.

I don't want to NOT go to the games, but I don't know how to be heard. Maybe I'll cancel my season tickets and just buy from a "scalper" or pick up a free pair on the blvd. Season ticket holder tickets will fall, but I'll still be there to support the team.

We should hear something definitive this week. If June is extended I expect a press release at about 4:30 on Friday afternoon.

Now that makes sense.

To say I am disappointed is to put it mildly, however, he does still have a year left on his existing contract and no one has said he has accepted the extension...if indeed there was one or still is one. It would take a lot of money to buy him out, pay a new coach, and possibly have to pay the new coach's old school's buy out. Here's hoping there is no extension...please, please, please.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I suspect at this point, he signs an extension. Hopefully, they make it one with a minimal buyout after next season. June gets paid his 2014 money and coaches the season. SMU will not officially have a lame duck coach, and SMU actively pursues new coach at end of next season.
SMU asks June to resign at end of next season. In absence of JJ resignation, SMU buys him out. It's not like recruiting will suffer much more with this scenario.

Done deal, Next December.

Where is your accountablity. Seems to me being a fan is being accountable to the team. If you do not support the team than you are not being accountable as a fan. Works both ways my friend. Going to four straight bowls is not enough to keep you around? Instead of seeing nothing but negatives, see some positives.

Don't provoke him. He said earlier in the season that he is no longer coming to the games so lets leave well enough alone.

This is the difference between a school that wants to compete and win, versus one that just wants to survive. And only by doing the bare minimum.

Please compare ASU and SMU. ASU fans openly blew up over the deal to bring JJ to ASU. It scuttled the deal. ASU went out and got Graham, then subsequently fired their Athletic Director. Results for 2012 and 2013, 8-5 and 10-3 in the Pac 12. 2nd and 1st place in conference.

Our Athletic Director lets him come back and coach with no recourse except for having to give the Mustang Club a overhead projector briefing. The Athletic Director stays on, the coach stays on, and we lose the only coaches that had effectively recruited. We go 6-6 with a bowl win and then 5-7 with no bowl and get shut out by our Texas rival in the conference. Quite a contrast.

2013 our fans are blowing up over bringing Jones back after a extremely disappointing season, and what happens - to borrow a word going around many threads, crickets.

Our fans have been abused by our administration since 1986.

doesn't care who wins.

Hey, an idea for a T-shirt. Sorry I am not any good at photoshop but the idea is to show peruna on his back with feet in the air. Wording says: jj killed peruna and fball ,12/17/13

Seems about right at this point.
