This will be simple.
With their "re-seating" I will be "re-allocating" the $500 I spend on football tickets to basketball.
What changes?
For myself:
I won't attend football games with tickets I purchase for family and friends ... Four less people in the stands that they desperately need.
For SMU:
Revenue from me stays about the same. Less butts in Ford stadium.

This is just supply and demand. We have been underpriced for a long time, team finally worth it. I predict this will go just fine, although of course there will be bellyaching.
Hope they require some sort of mustang club donation for all seats, even if nominal, so that we get our giving percentages up.

Lots more sweater vests on TV to show young, talented athletes that SMU is a place for them!

I don't think they're screwing it up but I do think there's gonna be a lot of pissed off fans/alums if the team goes back to mediocrity after LB. It's weird to raise tickets consecutively and reseat when the team hasn't done much yet. I just see it as extremely risky from the athletic department and I think it will be hard to convince people to drop that money if the team isn't making NCAA tournaments. Gonzaga tickets are still very affordable even and that place isn't huge or anything. It's smaller than Moody IIRC.

I priced out Gonzaga tickets including donations and it was a helluva a lot more expensive than SMU-posted it on here-but they don't have football too. Here's that post from earlier in year
GONZAGA SEASON TICKET PRICES for 2013-(they've sold out for 10 years in 6,000 seat arena)
The minimum donation/license is also $250 but has much higher levels too
Ticket packages range from $500 to $3,850, but only a few tickets become available each season.
Five people from the waiting list received tickets for the 2013 basketball season.
Season tickets have sold out 10 years in a row. The price tag for one ranges from $525 to nearly $4,000 for courtside seats.

didn't someone post that we only had something like 1900 actual individual Mustang Club members-maybe that was from a 2013 report. Anyway that's ridiculously small. TCU had something like 4-5 times more. How many individual Mustang Club members are they going to be able to dig up? As I've said for awhile for a small private school with a miniscule fan base attempting to remain big time:
Commitment is a two way street

Thank you, I couldn't quite recall. Either way, I don't think it's tough to argue that Zaga has built that over a long period of time and have a loyal backing now. I doubt the prices started like that the first time they went to the Sweet 16.

Aren't NIT teams, by definition, mediocre? I really don't understand why we suddenly think we're amazing.

Not having football (and all those money draining Title IX women's sports) gives you options.

Does anyone think the Mustang Club is extremely disorganized? I never see them promoting at alumni or athletic functions.
It's another example of how the lack of attention to detail by the administration makes it look like we aren't committed to being big time.
