DEFEATIST! This man's attitude is indicative of what the RGT administration believes. I would not want them trying to turn around a company in financial distress. Absolutely terrible management philosophy. This attitude must change as it is unacceptable for Dallas and SMU. The success of the program on the field is directly related to resources, commitment, hard work, a new coach and recruiting. The fan base will grow if the product is good and marketed well. Damn losers make me sick.

Having read pony boy's sarcastic remarks towards others who are critical of Jones, some would begin to question his sincerity. Was his paraphrase of the SMU alum real or simply a way to spread propaganda in support of the RGT administration?

Gee- 4 wins. Let's see that figures out to be about 2.5 mill per win based on jj's 2 mill per yr. and the fact that this is his 5th yr. Wonder if the CofC has ever thought of it that way. Seems like that is not much of an ROI. Or calculated on all 25 wins it comes out to about 400k/win. Still seems like gross overpayment for what we are getting.

If I were an SMU fan (and I'm not), I would want Jones gone too. The Arizona State fiasco was too embarassing. The fact that he delegated recruiting to Klemm and seems clueless in regard to recruiting in Texas without him is another straw on the camel's back. Jones seems to have a hidden dislike for SMU and his own son called SMU the worst football school in the country.

On the possitive side, he has improved the football at SMU - there is no question about that. Two straight bowl wins. Is the program still getting better? My thought is that it is not.

Your points in the defeatist post above are excellent. Agreed 100%. As a matter of fact, look at my post immediately below the one where I posted the guy's opinion. I said "defeatist" first!

The gentleman, however, raises good points that have to be addressed head on. Will we provide the infrastructure for winning that TCU did? What makes us think a Les Miles would succeed here given the current environment? What do we have to do to compensate for the fact that we're a small private school where at least half our student body is from out of state, and therefore doesn't grow up hearing about and following SMU, and who generally leaves the state after graduation? These are real issues. Let's go tackle them!
