I posted last year how I thought the SMU stadium was the nicest I have ever been in. Congrats on such a nice facility.
If you are coming to Stillwater this weekend, you will notice our aging stadium is finally getting a face-lift. It is being done in three-stages spanning four years. Phase one is nearly complete.
Phase 1: South Side (99% complete)
Phase 2: North side (start at the completion of this season.)
Phase 3: Bowl the entire West endzone
It's amazing how much different the stadium will look when completed. The infrastructure is being built with the capability to add an upper-level down the road to increase capacity to 78,000. (That's a future project and not included in the scope of these 3 phases.)
I heard Pat Jones tell a funny story about recruiting when he and Jimmy Johnson were the coaches. Before recuits came to visit, Jones would make sure the weight room was locked. As they would tour the facilities, Jones would then act surprised that it was locked.
Lewis field was always an eye-sore on campus. You are correct that it did not match the campus at all. Our campus is so beautiful with the Georigan architecutre, yet our football stadium was built from an erector set.
I believe OSU has the nicest basketball arena in the country and our weight and training rooms are equally as nice. When the football stadium is complete (and indoor practice field) we will have the top all-around facilities in this part of the country for sure.
no hard feelings OSU9400, but this is funny...(i'm working on finding the picture)
Sooner Saboteur Plays Prank At New OSU Stadium
Wednesday August 11, 2004 6:26pm Posted By: Kevin King
Stillwater - The big renovation project underway for Boone Pickens Stadium on the campus of Oklahoma State University has hit a big snag after it was sabotaged by the enemy.
Pictures have been circulating on the internet, showing how a brick layer has placed an O-U logo into the bricks on the outside of the newly renovated stadium.
The brick layer, obviously a Sooner fan, has single-handedly cost the company renovating Boone Pickens Stadium big money.
Oklahoma State University's media relations director tells NewsChannel 8 the subcontractor who hired the brick layer will be replacing the bricks at no cost to the university.
The work will be done before OSU's home opener against Tulsa on September 11th.
Steve Buzzard also says as soon as they determine which brick layer played the prank, he will be fired.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally
