Womack's 200-yard game against the Hogs was in 1997
Re: Shanderrick Charles
Rich Phillips said the freshman record is 218 yards by Jeff Atkins in 1983. Shanderrick Charles is close!
Re: Shanderrick Charles
Has 217 yards - freshman record. Third-highest total in school history. Record is 244 by the great 244 Eric Dickerson. Can Shanderrick catch him?

Re: Shanderrick Charles
If the radio guys are accurate, Shanderrick came up a yard short of the all-time SMU record. And he was pulled on the last drive! If Dickerson gets to keep this record, I just hope the little San Diego froggie doesn't break Dickerson's NFL record (19) for rushing touchdowns for a rookie.
Re: Shanderrick Charles
Agreed - what a performance. But let's also keep in mind that ShanD is a freshman, and let's not kill him with unreal expectations. He can share time with Briggs and KK and turn into one hell of a running back. Coach Cavan drives me nuts when someone has a great game and he says the player "has a chance" to be a good player for SMU. For once I agree with Coach C. ShanD has a chance.
Let's see him do it again in two weeks against UTEP!

Re: Shanderrick Charles
Kudos to ShanD. He is not the biggest running back we have, but he must be strong as a horse. Seems like on every other run he was dragging 2 or 3 tacklers with him for a couple of extra yards and he protected the ball!! Hopefully he can repeat this awesome effort in future games....can you say "LT"? Seems Cavan may have found his salvation.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
