UNIVERSITY PARK - SMU officials are in the process of replacing both goalposts at Ford Stadium. On Sept. 25 the south goalpost was torn down by fans following SMU's 36-13 win over San Jose State that ended a 15-game losing streak.
A goal post from the practice field replaced it before last Saturday's game against Louisiana Tech. The new goalposts will be collapsible and will be taken down following every home game.

I remember when the University of Iowa put up collapsible goal posts after students tore them down. It ended up jinxing the team for like 2 years. They never had a reason to tear them down. I am firmly against this decision.
Then again you can't really jinx a team that is as bad as ours. Maybe it will be some kind of anti-jinx or something.

Maybe the only D-1 team bringing down the posts after every embarrassing loss. Security must be afraid of the 2 dozen SMU students left in the stands after the 4th quarter.

Unfortunately there were only about 4 dozen students left after the first quarter.
