Is UTEP the best team in the WAC

Post by PerunaRaider »

UTEP was the only team to get votes in the top 25 poll but are they the best team?

Also, did Kirk Snyder come back to Nevada?

What about Boise? They're undefeated, probably will end the season undefeated, and ranked higher than UTEP right now.

Personally, I think UTEP and Rice are a cut above everybody else while LaTech, Nevada, SMU, Boise, and Hawaii are all pretty equal and could finish in any order for spots 3-7. Tulsa should finish 8th while Fresno and SJSU battle for the cellar.

amazing how things change 2-3 years ago, no one would have ever thought Tulsa and Fresno could be the bottom dwellers of WAC bball.

If I were to choose a top team right now it would be Rice. Alot depends on how UTEP responds to the coaching change. They have a few players out with injury right now, and they looked a bit sloppy at times in their first exhibition game. Until the games are for real, though, its hard to say.

Hawaii might be right behind the Miners and Owls, they lost a lot, but their recruiting class will have an immediate impact. Riley Wallaces teams have always had good chemistry and team play, he should be able to pull the newcomers together and make a team out of them.
La. tech will build a team around Paul Millsap, arguably the best player in the WAC. They have a lot of guards to use in different combinations.
Nevada has a very strong frontcourt, but a suspect backcourt.
Boise lost too much from last years team to really be a contender. Tulsa was very young last year. Now they have almost everyone back, and Oswaldo Gonzalez will be eligible. Yusuf Baker is out for the year, though. They should be better, but it will be hard for them to move up, because most of the teams ahead of them are also better.
Fresno is going to be very young, and a tough season is ahead for them. Still it cant be as bad as last year, which was a nightmare of off-court disasters.
San Jose did what they always do, they signed a bunch of transfers who should make them better. I'll believe it when I see it. This year, they should at least have more hieght.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.

The Stangs are the best basketball team in the WAC. Think about last year's team with a coach. Nuff said.
We must shake the \"snob\" reputation. Bring Dallas back to SMU.
