Top 10: Nevada

Post by Letterman »

Many coaches bring in inspirational speakers to motivate teams as they get ready for a big game, a tactic employed this week by Nevada head coach Chris Ault as his Wolf Pack gears up for Saturday's game at SMU. So ...

From the home office, High on the Hilltop, the Top 10 motivational speeches that will cause Nevada to lose to SMU:

10: "Show your gratitude to those who protect you"
Speaker: Liza Minelli

9. "Finish what you start"
Speaker: Ricky Williams

8. "Improving performance through encouragement and support"
Speaker: Bill Parcells

7. "Accept your lot in life gracefully"
Speaker: Martha Stewart

6. "Conditioning: better strength through proper nutrition"
Speaker: Mary-Kate Olson

5. "What happens within the team, stays within the team"
Speaker: Maurice Clarett

4. "Performing with integrity and honesty"
Speaker: Ashley Simpson

3. "Make your teammates know they can rely on you to do your job"
Speaker: Ron Artest

2. "Smile for the cameras"
Speakers: Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake

And the #1 motivational speech that will cause Nevada to lose to SMU:

Agreed - you don't have to live in Dallas to appreciate these.

That was pure gold, Letterman. However, if I had #10 give an inspirational speech with that theme, I'd probably end up creeping out the whole squad.

You don't think Mary-Kate Olson would make an imposing defensive end?

Maurice Clarett is a baby, and Ron Artest is a jerk. The difference is, I'd want Artest if I owned a basketball team. If I'm a football owner, Clarett doesn't even get a free-agent tryout on my team. He's not the player Artest is.

Terrific list! Thanks for the laughs.
