What jumped out at me"

"When we win eight games we will probably be assured of a bowl game," UTEP coach/magician Mike Price said Monday ....

Don't you think he should have said "IF we win eight .... "

I'm sure he expects to win, but it's not like a coach of his experience to make statements like that.

Let's prove him wrong.

My highlight from Coach Bennett's press conference yesterday:

"Mike Price is a good coach, a good man, and good for college football. I'm happy for him. But I don't want him to be happy this weekend."

Of course Price should say that. He has to sound confident in front of his players. If the coach doesn't, who will. It is part of the reason Price has been able to achieve a turnaround with the exact same team from last year. He is defnitely coach of the year!

Agreed - obvious WAC Coach of the Year (although since the conference snubbed Nnabuife for Defensive Player of the Week, maybe they'll come up with some moronic logic to snub Price, too). And if he was coaching at a school in a larger conference, Coach Price would get some votes for national Coach of the Year. He's done a terrific job out there.

He was coaching in another conference, but by "hook" or crook, he landind in El Paso this year.
