David Allison Impresses At AA Bowl
my buddy Max Emfinger claims that David Allison ran a 5.2 at 6-6, 300 the other day during practices prior to "MAX EMFINGER'S HIGH SCHOOL ALL-AMERICAN" game. That is a substantial improvement from the 5.53 he ran at the Nike camp. Allison was the second linemen mentioned whose time impressed Emfinger. Now that's pretty impressive at that size.
David Allison
David Allison did run a 5.2 at the week long practice for the All American Game. He has ran a 5.2 before during school timings. The 5.53 you are talking about was the time ran during the Nike Combine held at College Station. This combine was called off due to thunder/lightening and extreme cold. Most kids at this combine did not have good times, most kids scratched their times from being published.
Allison has been a right tackle during his high school career, but during the All American Game, he got practice and playing time (2 quarters) as a left guard and then due to injury of Lee Grimes (committed to A&M), he took over position of left tackle for the remaining of the game. He even practice snapping the ball several times during practice. Allison wants to be a team player and will play when and where needed. He had a great game at a whole new position and did not give up one sack.
The All American Game was a great success and many boys came from all over the US to participate. Several kids were getting second looks by colleges that looked over them before. Thanks to Max and his idea of trying to get kids seen, it was a great week for Allison and all involved.

Welcome to SMU land, Stangmom. We are all so excited about David and to hear that he is red and blue throughout really warms my heart. This time of year we all sit on pins and needles waiting for signing day. Good to hear David is solid in his committment. Can't wait to see him play with a running mustang on his head.
Just send 'da money.
Solid
We appreciate the kindness! After his official visit on the first weekend in December....it was certain this is where he would go. He even called and canceled his official visit to UTEP after coming to SMU. He was always certain, but the official visit made it positive for all of us! We love SMU!!! I would send you a picture, but since I can't link to my PC only the web for pictures, I can't do it at this time. I think he is going to look great in Blue and Red - but then again, I am partial!!!!!

Stangmom,
Thanks for your support. We all look forward to seeing your son help turn this program around. David made a wise choice in SMU. Make sure he does well in school, including getting his degree. The connections he’ll make here will benefit him long after his All-Conference playing days are over.
He is going to be a good one.
