a basketball junkie’s dream: the DMN classic

Post by LA_Mustang »

Next Saturday four HS basketball games will be played at Reunion in front of 17,000 (a sellout) and will feature some of the best players in the country. Here's the lineup:

Seagoville vs Richardson Berkner
Seagoville: #1 ranked team in 4A and leading the toughest district (13-4A) in Texas. They have two highly regarded juniors in Derrick Roland and Donald Sloan (both supposedly have interest in SMU)
Berkner: only one loss in 2005 and they are led by my favorite junior, Ugo Chinasa (a big-time football recruit and has a huge upside in bball)

Carter vs Crowley:
Carter: #2 in 5A
Crowley: #4 in 4A
This game doesn’t do much for me, although, Carter does have a sophomore, Brockeith Pane, who will be a big-time recruit.

SOC vs Houston Gulf Shores:
SOC: ranked #3 in 4A and led by arguably the #1 junior in the country, Darrell Arthur (btw, he had 31 pts and 12 boards last night against Seagoville). They also have Baylor commit Kevin Rogers.
Gulf Shores: led by the #1 senior in the country and OSU commit, Gerald Green.
This game will have the #1 player in 2005 vs arguably the #1 player in 2006. I believe the DMN summed it by saying there will be at least 12 NBA scouts at this game.

Lincoln vs DeSoto:
Lincoln: #2 in 4A led by OSU commit Byron Eaton and uncommitted blue chipper Gary Flowers.
DeSoto: #1 in 5A led by OSU commit Roderick Flemings and highly recruited junior Jermaine Beal (has interest in SMU)

The last two games should be worth the price of admission. Talent and athletic ability all over the place.

You think there will be any OSU fans there?? geez....their best recruiting class in school history (this year's class), and probably the #1 class in the country will be on full display. There will likely be a couple of future Mustangs in the building as well.

no doubt, should be some great hoops. Right now Ive got a conflict that I am trying to wiggle out of. Hope I can at least catch a couple games.

Speaking of hoops junkie dream, how bout that comeback win by the Mavs over Seattle tonight. Dampier is coming on strong.

That's funny, HF. I was thinking the same thing. Damp is playing like an all-star. That's right, a Dallas Maverick center is playing like an all-star. Pigs are flying somewhere.

I read someone's report that Chinasa might turn out to be the best college football player among every DE prospect in the country. Not right away, but I've read several opinions that say he might be an NFL-caliber DE one day. His athleticism is amazing.
