One of you guys says we need big men. Chris Urbanus qualifies. Has anyone else heard that he is leaving the team?

Ponyboy I believe it is true. last night at Goffs a group of players were talking about how he is gone and was already planning to leave school. As for your comment about conpeting for a starting spot, Urbo is/was the best OL on the team. the solid starter with no measurable competition even close. It will be a serious loss...
Can someone answer me why/how our best o-lineman leaves after his sophmore year? It seems like it happens at least once a year that a player we are absolutely counting on to contribute just decides to quit.
I know kids leave every team at every school every year for a number of reasons, but it seems like, with us, there is always one kid we are really counting on.

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
If he ends up at A&M, UT or OU, I'm going to be seriously angry. There used to be are only 3 reasons for starters to leave: problems with girlfriend, problems with the coach, or problems with academics. Now it could be that he joined a rock band, joined some pacifist cult, was offered a job at a Top accounting firm, or he was offered some incentive to transfer to a "bigger" program.
I'd heard this rumor, but then I was told it was a false alarm. Hope it's not true -- I really like Urbanus, especially when one of the lefties is under center.
From what I've heard, Martin Guidry is moving to left tackle, with Darrin Johnson going over to compete with Urbanus (or maybe replace him?) at right tackle.

So, has he left the team? Is he not working out, running, etc. This program is turning the corner- the kid should not be leaving at this time.

Re:
Holy smokes! Do you really think we've got anyone that could transfer to one of those schools and PLAY? Be sensible. Don't get me wrong...I like Urbanus and am ELATED that he's a Mustang! But if he goes to one of those schools, he's only fooling himself. Note to Chris: stay at SMU! You'll get playing time...and you'll be APPRECIATED by the fans...especially ME!EastStang wrote:If he ends up at A&M, UT or OU, I'm going to be seriously angry.

I find it interesting that the original poster of this topic is "Pony-Up" (caps with a hyphen and a 'newbie' with only 3 posts) and there is another poster named 'Pony Up' (caps and no hyphen and who has over 300 posts and is from Waco). Frankly, I think 'Pony-Up' just started this thread to get everyone stirred up and that there's not truth to it. Don't you think Calvin Watkins from the DMN or someone from ponyfans (one of the webmasters!) would have pinned this down by now? I don't think there's any truth to this thread. Next subject.
