The next generation.................

Post by Tailwind »

Jay Taylor- Freshmen-true(height,hands)
CANT WAIT TO SEE IF HE WILL OPEN IT UP DOWN FIELD NEXT YEAR.

Travis Hunt- Freshmen-redshirt(speed,hands,agility)
IF HE IS ANYTHING LIKE HIS COUSIN (Florida Gator's Jabar Gaffney) HE'LL BE A STAR. The most physically complete receiver on the roster) 6'0 185lbs 4.4 split

Trey Griffin- Freshmen-true,(speed-agility)
CANT WAIT TO SEE HIM IN THE OPEN FIELD WITH HIS SPEED

Cedtric Taylor- Freshmen-redshirt-(hands,power) ONE THING THAT WAS MISSED IN 2001, PHYSICAL RECEIVERS WHO CAN BLOCK AND CATCH

Matt Rushbrook- Sophmore-redshirt-(agility,hands) Being given a second chance on the opposite side of the ball were he is most dangerous.

Very much looking forward to seeind Cedric Vinson.
And (safety) T.J. James. Supposed to be fast and a hard hitter.

TJames might have a hard time concedering he couldn't beat out Alvin NNubuffie for the last saftey spot this year. Ruben Moodley , And Rico Harris are also in the mix and it's rumored that BJ Williams might return to saftey.

Travis Hunt is a DB and will not be switched.

I was at numerous practice sessions and it would appear that TJ.James was working out at corner for most part. Coaches seam to bring in players / athlete and move them around. Is this due to the coaches, players or a team need. I have also seen Nixon run reciever routes, in the slot and as a wide-out. Was this a plan for next year ? We will never know.

Ashton Nixon i recall was only running routes on scout team which means little.

Why isn't it possible for Travis Hunt to move to wide receiver?

I like your thinking ProudPonyPa!!!!
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Nixon will play QB. Only ran WR for scout team and that was only occasionally.

Hunt was recruited as DB and that is where he will be tried this spring. However, nothing to prevent him moving to O. I tkink we need DB's more than we need WR.

Wallis will be playing Hback/TE. I don't think the new staff will play him at QB.

Who knows? I am sure there will be several position moves.

Question for ProudPonyPa (a.k.a. Donnie Gilray's dad) -

What position are they thinking of moving Donnie to?

SMUmustangs/com is reporting that Tommy Miller is now up to 319, Scott Dale is 281 and Brad Kieschnick is 275. Assume they'll add a few more pounds before August. When's the last time we had three linemen START their career with that kind of natural size? I'd love to be the new offensive line coach and get to work with this bunch. And all the new guys who are supposed to be coming in.
