Hello from a Memphis fan...

Post by HornLakeTiger »

Hey guys, I've been trying to make the rounds on the message boards of all the schools coming into Conference USA and welcome everyone aboard. I just wanted to come on here and tell you folks that I'm proud to have SMU coming aboard. The history of SWC football is something that's always fascinated me as a college football fan. I'll be hanging around when it gets a little closer to football season, and believe me when I say that I will definitely be keeping up with your Mustangs, starting with your opener against Baylor. I'm looking forward to getting down to Dallas in '07 or '08 to watch my Tigers take on SMU at Ford Stadium.

Best of luck in Conference USA!!!

You are always welcome here, but don't be suprised if you get a little friendly smack along the way.

True. We have AT LEAST 10 people who visit this board on a regular basis and a couple of them have been known to get venomous…..so, beware.

Seriously, I’m thrilled to have people from Memphis visit our board rather than people from places like Boise, Fresno or Reno.

Is the 'arena' that pyramid on the west side of town, right after you cross the river?

What the hell is that supposed to mean? What has friendly smack got to do with getting venomous? All I know is if someone from NTSU or TCU or even Baylor sometimes comes on here they have gotten their share of "friendly fire". So....?

Actually, most of the getting venomous seems to be reserved for our own fellow fans...go figure

Actually, The Pyramid is the old home of the Tigers. It opened up in 1991, and the Tigers were the sole tenant until the Vancouver Grizzlies came to town in 2001. For the next three seasons, the Grizzlies and Tigers shared the Pyramid, and for the 2004-2005 season, the brand new FedExForum over on Beale Street opened for the Grizzlies, and the Tigers moved into the arena with them. So now the Pyramid sits empty on the banks of the Mississippi River.

Speaking of, how well is SMU basketball supported? Could we expect to see a good number of Mustang fans for the '06 CUSA Tournament?
