SMU and Air Force

Post by No Quarter »

I could not find a reference to answer the following. I hope some one else will help.

Did SMU and the Air Force Academy play several football games in the 1960's and what were the out comes?

What are the all time results of football games between SMU and Air Force?

It would be nice to get the flyboys back on the schedule... I love the wishbone attack the service academies trot out there.

We don't do well with offenses of that ilk (see Rice), and we certainly wouldn't do well at their altitude. TCU will not enjoy their visits there.

Personally, I'd prefer a home and home with Army. I think that Bobby Ross will be running more of a pro style and they bring a ton of fans. This would be a game in the winnable category, but one that doesn't look like we're scheduling a cupcake.

That 1969 Air Force game was the season opening telecast for ABC's NCAA schedule.

I'd love to see the Mustangs play AF and Army again as well as Navy.

I don't want to play ANY of those teams, until we learn how to defend the option!

Yeah, with everyone going to the spread, it's really hard to get your team to learn assignment defense for one or two games a year. Avoid these teams like the plague
