2005 Season Ticket Sales

Post by Billy Joe »

Does anyone have the numbers on the 2005 season ticket sales compared to last year? I am sure the first year in C-USA will help. I expect attendance to be up dramatically from last year. If more people turn out for games, it may allow Bennett a little more job security in the event of a dismal record.

because we play Baylor and TCU at home. those games should generate crowds near 30k, although admittedly won't do anything for season ticket sales

Why in the world would you want Bennett to have more job security in the aftermath of yet another dismal season??

I am not saying I want Bennett to have more job security. I am curious if the move to C-USA has lead to an increase in season ticket sales. I know Copeland has overscheduled the team since he has been here to put more people in the seats, i.e., OSU, Tx. Tech., etc. It will be nice if there are actually more people in the stands during conference play. Having some new teams come to town may help with attendance even though SMU's records may not be that good. I also do not attribute SMU's failures on the football team to the coaching. Rossley, Cavan, and Bennett are all capble coaches. SMU's failures are a direct result of the unfriendly admission and athletic policies imposed on the coaches. The Board of Directors dictate the policies and until there are changes do not expect much success out of the revenue sports.

I've heard we're ahead of last year in speaking with the ticket office..
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

That's good to hear. For me, I'm bumping up from 4 seats to 8 this year.

if you have an extra tickets (2-4) that you want to get rid of for the Baylor game, please advise.
