Hold yer horses
Ok, lest you think I am a sunshiner, please read numerous posts below - highly critical of Bennett's (lack of) coaching decisions.
But, we lost to a Big12 team by essentially 3pts (and we missed a FG).
Call it first game jitters, whatever...Tony didn't look right until the final drive - when it was too late. Romo looks much better and faster, but can't hit a inside slant / wr screen to save his life - a bread and butter play of the spread.
The bright side is Richuel Massey. He looked good out there, very good. That whole that was opened when he ran for the TD was WIDE. We should have stuck with him more of the game.
The defense, though they caved late actually looked much improved.
I hate so much to say this, but let's wait and see a few more game. I know the likelihood is 0-3 now, and maybe 0-4 (or 5 if skip holtz is for real)...but
What if we are 0-4 but lost very competitive games rather than blowouts as was the norm the past 7 years...does that even make a difference now?
I hate to get up for TCU, but maybe there's hope...they will be overlooking SMU - I bet their scout team isn't even running SMU plays - rather, UTAH plays for NEXT Thursday's game...
Ya nevah know...

All true.. but this gets so old so fast. Where was our offense? Where was the grasp of the playbook we heard from our QB and Coaches? Where was it?
Granted.. the defense played tough and got worn down in the 2nd half.. but our offense has always always always $ucked! Running was okay.. but why can't we even complete dink passes?

What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

At this point, 0-4 is 0-4.....it doesn't matter how competitive the games are. Moral victories do not mean anything. It is time to start expecting wins. TCU sure did not look like they were just trying to be competitive with OU in Norman last Saturday.....they expected to win! All an 0-4 start means is another losing season for one of the worst programs in D-1 football.
Eckert looked good that drive because Baylor was running a bend don't break defense to prevent the quick score, at least that is what it looked like to me. Bring on Phillips, what do we have to lose.....another game, big deal.
Both RB's did look good, which was nice.
D.D. Lee had a great game, sounded like he was called every other play.
ihatetcu.

We haven't had an exciting offense since Run and Shoot...

Holy crap!

We lost to the worst team in the Big XII. By essentially 12 points in my book. They ran a clear prevent defense that last drive and the only rule for the secondary was to not let the SMU receiver get behind them. They GAVE US the short passes. Our starting QB did not complete a pass until the fourth quarter!!!
Massey and Dorsey. Big whoop. Our leading rusher was our backup quarterback. Massey had a few flashes, but he also had a fumble. TCU held Adrian Petterson to under 100 yards; they won't have trouble with these two (or three).
The defense played fine, but they got tired (where was the rotation on the line we were promised?). The offense was PATHETIC. Repeat: PATHETIC.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
OU had no passing game and Peterson was injured. That's a bad combination for OU. We didn't have a passing game, either, but we didn't throw that much (which was a good thing -- the way we threw the ball, we needed to stick to the running game). We should have beaten Baylor, but we didn't. We shouldn't beat TCU or A&M, even though neither is invincible. There is no need to start calling the season a wash. We'll win some games in the C-USA part of the schedule.

When was the last time this program rebounded from an 0-3 or 0-4 start to have a winning season? Only winning 1-3 games a year has gotten pretty old......and judging by all of our fans who come dressed as empty seats....most seem to think so.

In past seasons Bennett's teams have gotten better as the year has rolled along. Of course this is partly due to the competition and partly because we had young teams.
Well, at least we have experience but we still did not look like we knew what we were doing.
That can change as the season goes along and the experience and depth should help. That is all I can say on this thread.

My feeling is that losing isn't ok no matter what the score is. I understand that a close loss to A&M would be good, but make no mistake, Baylor is not A&M! Thinking that the loss to Baylor is anything but bad shows just how far down the ladder the football program has gone. We have to expect to win to really become a team in the top 100 in the country. This is hard to stomach as a person who watched and cheered in Texas Stadium and the Cotton Bowl. The Death Penalty is over! It's time to make a splash, get a coach with a name, and become respectable! Losing is not OK.

blah blah blah... And if we got even a FG from those three possessions early in the game, we win by 14... But we didn't and you didn't miss the field goal, we blocked it.

I agree OU has some issues, but Peterson only missed a handful of plays. He still had around 20 carries in the game and his back-up, Kejuan Jones, is an experienced back. They had problems but Peterson's temporary absence from the game was not one of them.
