Why? Why? Why, man. why?

Post by ThadFilms »

Here's the [some expletive deleted] of it, I had no expectations of wining this game. I didn't even care that we were leading throughout... but the [expletive that should be deleted] of it is that we frickin' lead for frickin' ever!!!! Sure, I could be pissed about the obvious fumble (why the fook was that not called?).... but here, it is.. no wait, here it isn't...

Don't get my frickin' hopes up again Mustangs.. either play the whole frickin' game or don't play at all... I just wish we hadn't beat TCU this year, because it gave me way to much HOPE. This sucks.

I would suggest not relying on SMU football to bring you happiness each fall. If you decide to go ahead and do so, either get a really good psychologist or go talk to Tom Cruise about he deals with psychiatric problems.

What am I missing here? We lost. That sucks. We've lost before. But we hung tight for 58 minutes with a team that (on paper, at least) is a lot better. I hate that we lost. But it's not like we got smoked by Sam Houston State or Stephen F. Austin.

Let's go scare the hell out of UAB.

Doesn't really matter how close of a game it was. In the end, this team is 1-4 with no end to the losing in sight!!

I didn't see that Marshall had a talent edge at all. SMU played evenly with them the whole game and lead almost the entire game.

I am not impressed by Marshall. They are a lower rung C-USA team.

We just lost. There were some blatantly bad calls, not the least of which was the fumble, ruled and incomplete pass. What a joke. How do refs sleep at night when they cheat other teams?

Final results are all that count. We lost, they won.

I'm strangely not that upset about the loss. I didn't see anything that Bennett did that lost the game, at least as a sideline coach. That's new and I guess encouraging. His record is still horrendous and coaches are ultimately judged by their record.

I did see a defense that gave up a ton of of completions and passing yards. I saw an offense that couldn't run at all and was only marginally better at passing.

You know we just aren't a real good team. We hung with a lower tier C-USA team. That's about the best we can do.

UAB should be another loss. I don't mean to rub it in but we are in woeful shape as a football program. When a pro team is this bad they blow it up and start all over again. We can't really do that. Systemic changes need to be made. I hope that one day SMU gets it and makes those changes.

I tend to agree these teams were pretty evenly matched talent wise. Marshall obviously enjoys a real home field advantage and having a really supportive home crowd certainly doesn't hurt when you are looking for that extra energy late in the game. Our guys had that support for TCU...but I'm afraid they won't experience it again this season.
