TOMMY TUBERVILLE

Post by MrMustang1965 »

Haven't heard anyone mention his name in the 'coaching' discussions. He's got previous connections in Texas (A&M), as well as at Ole Miss (Turner connection?). Has brought Auburn back from similar problems that have plagued SMU (NCAA sanctions and dismal W-L records).

Just throwing his name out there for discussion's sake. Thoughts?

And, yes...I know. Nothing will happen until we've got a new AD at the helm. So....

No, he's a proven coach, he would never come to this coaching graveyard...

Don't think that SMU could compete with the kind of money that he makes at Auburn and why would he want to leave? What a great selling point we have - come and coach here in front of 15K fans every week instead of sold out stadiums in the best football conference in the country.

If you want to go with the Ole Miss connection our best bet is Cutcliffe.

If we're going to start dropping names like this one, why stop there? I'm sure Pete Carroll is available or we could dig up Vince Lombardi.

Why not throw out Dennis Erickson while we're at it. We could get him to recruit and drink with the kids at the same time. Hell, we'd probably only have to pay him with Jack Daniels..
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

I think Cutcliffe would rather be the OC at ND under Weiss while they are winning and getting the ND fans and media to ooze all over them rather than come here.

But, Orgeron might be looking for a job at the end of this season...

and Les Miles will be available in a year or so.

If we're going to go after Tommy Tuberville, we might as well throw Phil Fulmer, Mark Richt, and Mike Shula in the mix. That kind of sounds like the kid with a 1080 SAT score that applies to Harvard, Princeton, Yale, etc. It doesn't matter if you apply to all of them, you're still going to get rejected by each.

Money & Tuberville

Post by LawSchoolPony »

I graduated from Ole Miss, and the reason why we Rebels hate Tuberville is b/c he is a sell-out for money, thats why he left Ole Miss for Auburn in the first place! BUT, as much as I love SMU, Pony football is NOT on par w/ Auburn...
