SMU-TCU

Post by mustangbill67 »

SMU 31-26 at half. Hop with 25 including 7 3 pointers. No inside game and no shooting except for Hop. Without Hop we would be down by 20. With any kind of inside game and good shooting, we would be up by 20.
Good defense but no offense except Hop. What is going on?

38-35 SMU, 13:44 in the second half...this is some sloppy basketball. How many points do we have from inside the paint? Less than 10? This is weak, but fortunately TCU seems to be weaker.

PLEASE WIN MUSTANGS!

BTW, 10 points to anyone who can name the movie star watching the game at Moody.

Here are some hints: he's an SMU alum, and his latest flick is about bball.

Where exactly are our cheerleaders? I swear I saw them crowding the camera in pregame, but have yet to hear or see them since. Anyone know?

Wow - that was one ugly game. How can we look somewhat decent and then play like absolute crap....

I'll take it ...anytime we beat TCU it's a good day.

TCU is a really poor team and SMU couldn't do anything tonight. 35% shooting. Without Hopkins who scored 1/2 the points on threes, we lose. I would have liked to see the zone which seemed effective for the 2-3 minutes it was used at the end of the game. The refs didn't help the flow of the game either. -

Rack has to keep the ball up...frustrating. Pearson was a non factor aside from the put back to go up by 2. Morris is usually automatic but missed key FT's. I'd like to see Hopkins play the point on occasion. Dez seems to be lost 1/2 the time.

OU next - very scary...

we played ugly, but rivarly games go that way sometimes. SMU looked tight, real tight. It takes experience in games like that and outside of Hopkins and Pearson to some extent, we are not real seasoned. Hopefully, they learn from it and come out loose and ready against Oklahoma. Morris didnt do his thing tonight, but we'll need big boy against Kevin Bookout. Lookout for Bookout.

Its a shame that this rivalry game is played :

1. on a weekend night vs the Mavs on a weekend when the world is out of town

2. when neither student body is in town

- missed opportunity. Does anyone from either team own a calander?

Also, on a random note, it looks like they have a former Rice B-Ball player in the movie, Brock Gillespie.

What a great day to be a Mustang! Beating TCU is a wonderful thing, and we've gotten good at it this year: men's basketball, women's soccer .... and a certain football game early this year!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hop was unconscious in the first half -- absolutely unconscious. He couldn't have missed if he wanted to. His second half was not as bad as the numbers suggest -- he played great defense on Hackett, and TCU went to a box-and-one defense on him. That's fine (and raises the question why they didn't do it earlier). But when that happens, we HAVE to get production from others.

Aren't they out on Winter Break, with the rest of the students?

And isn't there another PonyFan who once said he was in a couple of movies, including Born on the Fourth of July?

Any win over TCU is a great win! (Sure made the drive back to Waco much quicker.)
Way to go, Ponies!
