Sure is quiet. Usually some names (outside of current administrators) have cropped up by now as having been interviewed or contacted. Anybody heard ANYTHING?
All I have heard is that the internal candidates are "last resort" options. They don't want to pay a ton, yet want experience. Sounds to me like DI-AA or D2. Spare me all of the comments about how this job is some assistant A.D.'s dream job in the SEC.
Blog wants someone like Dave Maggard, A.D. of Houston. He has BCS experience, but had a fall from grace at University of Miami. With our history, I doubt we will hire someone with that background.
Secules may be the "best" candidate, so far. But if he ends up being the BEST candidate of all, we're in a world of hurt. He's a smart guy, so I would imagine he has irons in the fire elsewhere. Obviously, he is a token (courtesy) candidate here... which is a good thing.
I like Scott. Solid, high energy and will be an top flight D1 AD at some point.
Low risk and will be successful. Hope his current position here doesn't handicap him. Besides, he went to Men's Lacrosse game several years ago. I love it when AD's support all sports.
Saw Secules and Cooper (and other athletic department personnel) at the C-USA women's basketball tournament. When the game against Tulane went into the umpteenth overtime, they were stomping their feet and cheering like they were involved in some sort of spirit contest. I thought Secules, in particular, might have a heart attack -- he was going nuts.
