Source: Rex Walters to coach FAU

Hi, guys,

Tar Heel fan, here. Please excuse me if this info is already posted, but it looks like Rex Walters is getting the FAU gig.

Since Coach Doherty was holding a spot on the bench for him, who do you think he might bring in? Is there a current assistant who would be the most likely candidate?

Now, most coaches want to bring their own staffs, so I don't want to imply that I think Doherty will do anything different this time. I'm just curious about the current personell and politics. Sounds like there is a mess with the local public schools. Would retaining an assistant help with that?

That is a very good question, maybe we could entice the SOC coach to fill the spot. Talk about repairing the rift

I think DISD will have a problem with SMU as long as the average student isn't black. I'm not sure hiring an assistant will effectively change much. I'd like to hire someone with alot of AAU connections.

I think there are now two opeinings on the staff, are there not?

Is Farmer moving from Director of Basketball Operations to Assistant? Or is he staying in that role and there are two assistant positions to fill?

I would expect one position to be filled "locally" and the other to be filled "nationally."

Clearly, I know nothing about local hoops politics, but these kids can't all be going to historically black colleges, can they?
