That really is a shame. I hope he recovers fully, and my thoughts go out to his family.
He's a very good writer, but in this morning's ESPN.com story, there's a sentence that's pretty revealing:
--------------------
More recently, Gammons has dabbled in music and next week is scheduled to release his first CD, "Never Slow Down, Never Grow Old." The proceeds are designated for the foundation established by Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein
--------------------
Proceeds going to a Theo Epstein-started foundation? I'm sure it's a good foundation that supports a noble cause. But that, to me, indicates that those who scream about his Red Sox bias have more validity in their argument than I originally thought.
Regardless: Here's to a full and speedy recovery.
