BAMBA OUT - GRADES
Can't say that I'm surprised. I am disappointed though. Hopefully stuff like this won't happen under Coach D.
SMU center must sit out first semester

The SMU men’s basketball team will be without a major contributor for the start of the 2006-07 season for the second consecutive year. Starting sophomore center Bamba Fall is academically ineligible for the first semester.
Fall, who set a school record for blocks in a season in 2005-06, was unavailable for comment.
Fall will probably miss anywhere from seven to 10 games, depending on the number of games played during the semester.
Coach Matt Doherty said Fall is recovering nicely academically and is on target for a return in the second semester.
"We’ve seen tremendous growth," Doherty said.
Last season, leading scorer Bryan Hopkins missed the first seven games because of academics. He later returned for the second semester and led the team in scoring again.

With Hopkins grauduating, Morris leaving, and now Bamba out a semester, do we have any chance at all of a postseason berth? I think I could walk-on at this point

I would worry more about fielding a team than post season. At this rate, Coach D may have to use some scholarships he is trying to save in order to have 5 players to put on the court.

Seriously though, who are our legitimate scoring threats this year? I love how our season is seemingly over before it began, just like last year with Hopkins' fiasco. I understand that Doherty is entitled to at least one "grace year," but if we hang a 7-20 season, it's going to completely negate the momentum of his signing.

I think NCAA violations before an actual scheduled practice will deflate the momentum more than anything.

Scoring threats?? haha. Roberts is capable but hasn't been reliable or consistent. Pearson will probably be the leading scorer but the opponents will have an easy time on defense b/c there really isn't a threat.
