Happenings at SMU

Bamba Fall, who set the single-season record for blocks last season at SMU, is eligible for the upcoming 2006-07 season. Fall was academically ineligible following the 2005-06 season but according to coach Matt Doherty, busted his you-know-what to get his grades in order. I'll try to get more details later from SMU officials.

Also, Matt Williams, a little-used freshman guard, is transferring from SMU. Williams, if you remember, is the grandson of former SMU player Max Williams, who started the NCAA investigation into the men's basketball program last year.

Max Williams said he saw something he didn't like within the program and notifed then athletic director Jim Copeland, who launched an investigation.

Anyone know if Matt Williams intends to play at A&M, or is planning to be a student only?
