Some of the Texas Tech Fans Were A Disgrace!
I must say that Saturday night some of the Texas Tech fans were a disgrace to college football and sportsmanship.
There was an on-going nasty incident in the SMU section in the endzone where some young Tech hoodlums were screaming profanities at the SMU fans which included elderly people and young chilren.
I can't post on this message board the cursing profanities the Tech fans were screaming at visiting SMU fans.
You would think these Texas Tech fans several touchdowns ahead would just enjoy the victory, but instead they seem to more enjoy getting angry and screaming hate.
Stadium security officials had to be called when the Tech rowdies pushed a grey haired older father of an SMU student. At the end of the game security officials wearing yellow rain coats had to stand guard all over the SMU section.
I heard some SMU fans in other sideline sections were also not treated very nice during the game and when the SMU players exited the tunnel at the beginning of the game even Texas Tech coeds were screaming profanities and "shooting the bird" at our players and coaches.
Why are these people so hostile?

Funny, I saw a similar incident of a tech student starting a physical altercation with a gray-haired old man. What does Tech have against the old?
Oh, this must be why: http://genplus.blogspot.com/2006/03/edu ... -life.html
None of them live long enough to have gray hair.

...and now you know why I didn't take my 13-year old twin daughters to this game. I experienced the same type of behavior from TT fans the last time SMU played in Lubbock and again when TT visited Dallas.
The only explanation I can come up with for these incidents is that TT fans feel they have to act this way because they feel like they don't get any respect from other teams' fans...specifically, those that are in the Big 12...and this is their way of 'flexing their muscles'.
Also, the tailgating at TT starts so much earlier a lot of folks are very, very drunk.

I think, too, many of them weren't smart enough and/or couldn't afford to go to SMU, they resent SMU, and this is their way of sticking it to us. That, and, many of them didn't even go to Tech, have no education other than watching Jerry Springer and Judge Judy, and got a free Git Yur Guns Up T-Shirt at the local truck stop in exchange for $10 in Camel Cash.

BR Stang can relate to this. At LSU, Georgia, last year from what I experienced at A&M, Tennessee, how Notre Dame fans were toward Tennessee fans, and hell even TCU at Amon G 2 years ago, the passion is TOWARD the home team, not AGAINST the away team. SMU-TCU is about as bad as we get (usually), and the worst you see is "SMU sucks" or "TCU sucks."
When some folks got out of line at the LSU-Tenn game last year, fans were admonished by the AD afterward, and before the next game.
The whole TTech scene just kind of promotes the crap we endured Saturday; the 10:00 newscast in Lubbock after the game showed a segment on tailgating, and prominently featured one group holding up a sign saying "Honk if SMU sucks." The roving reporter had a nice giggle about it.
The aforementioned group of punks from Tech behind us were hurling "P-words" toward our guys; I turned around and gave a look, as in 'are you really saying crap like that with young people, kids, older folks around...' and the budding ambassador responded with "that's right...I said it!"
It takes a village.

College students using the f-word. And at a football game no less.
I blame the Bush administration. And that d@mn MTV.
That's only because truck stops no longer take food stamps. Don't drag Joe Camel into this ugliness.
