Our MASSIVE crowd needs management - Dave Miller in Charge

Post by BUS »

Loved the game.
Loved the play calling.

Just about had it with the lack of customer service.

Please do not blame the yellow shirts.
Please do not blame the light blue shirts.

The guy that makes the policy is Dave Miller. He came from Ohio and I guess he is in a time warp as to what he is in charge of.

My daughter got cold in the second quarter. "Here honey, go to the truck and get the sweater I told you to bring." Ring, Ring, "Daddy, they said I can not go out or if I do I can not come back." WHAT??

I had a talk with Kenvin Gentry ( Light Blue Shirt ) and he said that policy was not in and out. Terrorist and security issues you know.

OK that does not make since but well try again later.

At half time we went to the same gate and Lorraine Anderson ( Yellow Shirt ) said that a police officer told her that out was OK but re-entry had to be done at gate 4. We can do that. A little out of the way but we can make the extra effort.

We put away the chairs and flag from the tailgate said hi to some friends and then quess what....

My daughter calls again and Gate 4 said to go to Gate 2 and see who LIED to her. Calm down honey, meet us at Gate 2 and we will work this out.

At Gate 2 Lorraine say's that she had been told, after we left that the no in-out policy was to be upheld.

OMG.

Cut to the chase.... I called a friend and worker at SMU. I got my family back in after a few minutes.

WHAT IS GOING ON?????

We have not had a fan base since 1985. We are not selling out, We are not a target for the Taliban.

Is SMU just lazy?

I am about two seconds away from not giving another cent to the Mustang Club. I also do not think I can call people and ask them for money for the Mustang Club if we are going to RUN PEOPLE OFF with this type of customer service.

Happy Birthday Kris. Did you see the Blue Shirts take that down? Let's make another 25 people mad at SMU. It was a non autorized sign. Oh give me a break.

Say it costs a thousand dollars in promotions and advertising to get a new customer, tonight we just cost SMU 50 thousand dollars.

Get customer service and a great way to build a college atmosphere.

Sorry about the length of this post but I love SMU and it hurts see people not treated right.

Same thing happened to me. I have been leaving games and going back to the tailgate ever since I can remember. Tonight I tried to do it, and was told, "Look at the sign." I told the guy that sign has been there since the stadium was built. I skipped that gate, went down a few more, and tried again. Failure. Same thing, few gates down, tried again. Finally, I offered a guy $2 and a piece of the cookie that I was eating. He bit (bad pun intended).

Can't sell a stadium out, and yet those that pay to get in can't leave at halftime. I had a friend of mine that is a UT alum, and he was not impressed. Neither was I.

The horror stories continue to mount. They hassled me at halftime, and didn't want to let me back in. They hassled Brandon Bonds family about NOT blowing a horn....THAT THEY BOUGHT INSIDE FORD STADIUM! I heard many people complaining about the security again tonight! Something has to be done!

sufferred through through the same stuff. Have discovered that if you just ignore them, none of them have the nerve to actually inforce the rules. I know this doesn't help when you are talking about someones child, but should show the yellow (or blue) shirts conviction to their rules.

We have mutliple parking passes and actually moved a car up close to the stadium so at half time we didn't have to walk far for a few extra "sodas." We were told that we couldn't get back in if we left. I just laughed.

When we headed back in (which was before kick off) they told us we couldn't come back in. Well guess what, we walked right past the people yelling at us and went to our seats. No problem.

I got to see Brandon Bonds mother & sister read 'the riot act' to one of the blue shirts tonight in section 205. It was a beautiful thing to see!

Ms. Bonds' grandson (about 5 years old, I think) had bought one of the big red horns to blow at the concession stand earlier tonight. In the second quarter, one of the blue shirts told Ms. Bonds that her grandson would 'have to quit blowing that thing' because it was 'against the rules'. Her response: she said that she had attended a meeting with 'Roy' (someone in the AD earlier this week) about this issue of 'noisemakers' and if the blue shirt had a problem with it, call Roy. She also noted that the horns should not be sold at the www.mustanglockerroom.com table inside the stadium if they didn't want people to blow them at the games! She basically told this blue shirt to 'leave her alone' and it was a FANTASTIC THING to see, my friends! The blue shirt turned tail and was never seen nor heard from the rest of the night!

Way to go, Ms. Bonds! Tell 'em!!!!!

Note to BUS: I was wondering where you were, man! That whole thing sucks!

i am echoing the sentiments about the security!!! It is OUT OF CONTROL!!! Once again, we had problems unloading for our tailgate - thanks to some great fans, we borrowed a green tag from a fellow tailgater to unload for 10 mins, saving us an hour of making trips back and forth w/ heavy, heavy stuff (all 5 hours before game time by the way, when the BLVD was empty).

ALSO, whats up w/ the not letting people on the blvd until 11:30??? The 'vard was empty except 1 tent when we left at 10:40, and they were still out there stopping cars - what a waste of security personnel - SMU, STOP WASTING MY TUITION DOLLARS ON WAAAAY TOO MANY SECURITY GUARDS (all w/ 6th grade educations by the way).

We had 10 people w/ us at our tent who came to the game w/ us, all from other undergad institutions - their #1 impression of the SMU football game day - TOO MUCH SECURITY!!! They were in awe of how many security guards and police there were, and also in awe of how rude they were to them, visitors on campus. Frankly, I am very disturbed by all of this

Mrs. Bonds and her whole family are FANS. GET it... FANS.

This is about the same as the NCAA telling small schools to get off the INDIAN names and then taking money to advertise PONTIAC.

An Indian tribe.

One kind of gets the impression that the blue/yellow shirts pound their chest like Tarzan and then walk away. Isn’t that the idea? They save face by 'enforcing' the rules without really causing any harm. The university will have to change policy. Until then, let the yellow/blue shirts 'do their thing' without causing anyone any undo harm. Seems a wink and a nod are going on and we are complaining about it.

I am sorry but I was taught not to wink and nod and break the rules. There are police there and I do not think that is what you teach 14 and 15 year olds.

Yes, I am old school.

1. Live By the rules
2. Change the rules if you don't like it.
3. Do not break the rules

SMU, Dave Miller ( The Laura commet was good ) Change the rule.

There are times when even the police know the rules suck. Imagine, if you will, that good old fashion Nazis were in charge and not Americans with common sense. They may well enforce the letter of the law. Instead, the current crop merely pound their chest like Tarzan and do nothing.

Perhaps it is best to teach youngster to 'conform to the rule of the land' just as the Hitler Youth did. But then again, the law is sometimes an arse and the public must dictate which is correct. One wonders which it is?

Alls, I know is there are huge NO RE-ENTRY signs painted on walls near
exits. Not sure if they're new.

I got hammered on here for pointing out all of Copeland's careless, and
assinine moves. Now a bunch of the same people just want to go back
to the VARD to get another snoot full during half time, and can't because
of stricter policies probably from the new AD.
