T Shirt alert for Thad

Post by mrydel »

Here in the Communist Society of Arkansas (CSA), they have banned a young man from selling T shirts that are derrogatory to UA. The T shirts list the poor accomplishments of the Nutt era football teams and supposedly were banned on the basis they included a picture of Nutt on them. This is becoming a freedom of speech argument here. Lawyers, is not a public figure, i.e. Nutt open game on exposing to the public? I would think as long as there was no pornography the Tshirts should be allowed.

Just a warnig to Thad that you had better not plan any derrogatory SMU statements until this is settled in what I am sure will be a landmark decision if you want to sell your shirts.

Sounds pornographic to me.

There will be no Nutt on my shirts... speaking of... the athletic department STILL hasn't give me final approval to sell. I have to remind myself to call tomorrow.

The guy in Fayettville was selling his for 18 cents each and they deemed it illegal because Nutt's likeness was considered trademark rather than public figure. If he had given them away he would have been ok. It is felt the guy has a strong freedom of speech suit, but at 18 cents a shirt, he can not afford to cost. He has dumped the shirt.
